The scalping scene (Spoilers )
Near the end of the movie. Nobody
acted excited with the scalping , wooden spike shoved down throat and their friend being split in half.

The non-reactions kinda added to the grotesqueness of the scene. No distractions. In the end I found myself with a shocked expression for around 10 still seconds afterwards, and wondered what the audience must have been like in a theatre.
shareI thought the non-reactions were a sign of a bad movie.
The victim didn't even make noise.
It was like they decided to add this effect without thinking it out and the actors were watching some kind of effects scene without caring.
If you think about it from a story perspective, these are guys from the 1800s who never saw humans act like this. So, their reaction would have been much more intense than a person today seeing the same thing.
