What did people ever see in this movie?

I’m being serious for the past four years that question has boggled my mind?

It had none of the magic or mystery of the originals. It was like an extended fan fiction youtube video.

reply

No it's an insult to extended fan fiction youtube videos

You're not wrong.

Plain and simply it was the beneficiary of the perfect storm of conditions that resulted in unprecedented hype that was boosted by social media, Star Wars withdrawal from fans eager to see the first Star Wars film in a decade, boosted even further by the the misguided anti PT crowd (.e.g. those RLM hacks)with a collective chip on their shoulders were determined to blindly love the film to "spite" the PT & George Lucas, in hopes of "vindicating" their years of short sighted bickering & nitpicking.

I can't imagine what would be the end result if this film turned out to be legitimately good instead of the sparkling dog turd it ended up being.

I hated it from the moment I saw it.

Han, Luke, Leia and Chewie back on the big screen was what made me buy a ticket.

reply

Got it, you just got manipulated by your nostalgia

reply

Sort of... also that whenever the 4 of them had been together on screen it had been a great experience... having Kasdan involved with the script, John Williams... the success of Disney with Marvel... I'm also a fan of Max Von Sydow and I thought his role was going to be more important, I thought he was going to be another Jedi who had been exiled all this time.

reply

Yeah that was ridiculous killing off Max von Sydow 5 minutes in. I’ve noticed these Disney films have a serious case of writers ADHD, they always have to keep you bouncing all over the place and they never really focus or develop anything like the OT and prequels did

reply

The special effects.

reply

Eh they weren’t even that good
