Harrison Ford was right

They should have killed Solo off in "Jedi." How powerful would it have been if he had blown up with the Death Star? Instead, he's killed off in "Force Awakens" in one of the most anticlimactic moments in the whole movie.

I agree. The TFA scene had no surprise or power to it at all.

And after Mr. Ford improvised the "I love you." "I know." scene in "Empire" and the swordsman scene in "Raiders" you'd think Lucas and others would have a little more faith in his creative input.

I disagree. The original trilogy HAD to have a happy ending, an ending with all the major characters getting what they wanted and believing they're going to live happily ever after. Leia and Han needed to be together at the end, and if Leia had either been mourning the love of her life or forgetting him and snuggling up to Lando, it would have been a total buzzkill.

That isn't to say that Han's death in TFA was great, but killing him in ROTJ would have been worse.

Agree! I hated that they made Luke and Leia siblings, George should have left the "other" for a sequel trilogy or just unanswered.

The problem I see with Han was that his character arc was complete at the end of ESB. There was no where for his character to go growth wise so they could only assign him tasks to do. Which I like Han and did not want to see him die but from a story telling position it would have been effective and a proper conclusion to his arc. What we got instead was a back track and 'redo' of his arc rushed in TFA. Back to smuggler ending with sacrifice.
