Do all middle-class Americans have houses this huge?

One thing I couldn't get over in this movie was that the house was a friggin' mansion. Since the PA movies always feature middle-class families, I was wondering if American middle class families do tend to live in these ENORMOUS houses. It had a bloody walk in pantry for gods sake!

I know I'm probably wrong, but it would be great to get confirmation :)

I grew up in a house that size, down south. early 90s I remember it sold for $880,000. there were TONS of subdivisions full of the same kind of houses but they were built so close together that the yards were very tiny. and they definitely weren't well-made at all, put up as quickly as possible during the 80s housing boom where anybody making over $60,000/yr could get a mortgage. I mean, crappy construction as in you open a door and the doorknob puts a hole through the drywall, hollow doors, no real wood all pressboard and not even MDF. those are what a lot of movie houses seem to be shot in. a truly nice house will have a larger yard, circular driveway, solid wood doors, cabinets that don't fall apart, etc.
