Inquiry about Ep1 (and spoilers)

Why in the world did the Frenchmen shoot Mr. Frye. He seemed to be needing something, but unless I missed it, it died with him.

I did not see the reason for Isaac's death. Had he died in an earlier episode, the narrative would've changed to the trio trying to make it without him, which would've been somewhat interesting to see. He ended up leaving on his own, which works. But came back to die? It just didn't make sense to me to write that in.

I know Jacob was going through a lot of mess, but I would've gotten a kick out of seeing Abish crawl over to Red Feather so she could die in his arms in front of Jacob.

The only complaint I have is that I was reduced to watching this on my cell phone. The shaky/wavy cam on a 72" screen was nauseating as fuck. I could barely focus on the faces half the time.
