Oh it's not about Blondie.

Come on admit it. How many of you first saw the movie poster of this feature and believed that it was a biographical movie about Debbie Harry and Blondie ? 'Atomic' being one of Blondie's biggest hits and Theron looking for all the world like she was meant to be Harry on the poster. I guess the connection was a coincidence because apparently 'Atomic' doesn't even feature in the sound track of the movie.

Definitely the inspiration for the design, in the poster and probably the film. I haven't seen it yet.

That would have been totally ridiculous if you saw even one preview of the movie (and they were constantly on TV before it opened in theaters).

But I was never familiar with Harry's work to begin with, so my mind could have never gone there regardless.

Having saw the trailer before the poster... no, I can’t say my immediate thought concerning this movie was that it was gonna be based on the great Debbie Harry.

That said, I did see the connection and do believe the film’s title was meant to reference Blondie. Despite the song “Atomic” itself not being in the soundtrack, Charlize’s look is very similar to Debbie’s, and the title “Atomic Blonde” is just that obvious. So yeah, Debbie for sure had to served as an inspiration for this one.

I never thought that

No, not at all.

Well I knew 'Black Panther' wasn't about the African American Political party and quasi terrorist organization (the Black Panthers) from the late 1960s early 1970s. I knew 'Deadpool' wasn't going to be a remake of the Clint Eastwood movie 'The Dead Pool'. On the other hand I did honestly did think that "I Love You Philip Morris' was going to have something to do with the Cigarette industry. But because I saw the movie poster of Atomic Blonde before I heard anything about it, I completely believed it was going to be all about Debbie Harry and Blondie with their 1979 hit 'Atomic' being the feature song of the sound track.
