This is one of the best movies of the year.

I don't understand why this didn't do well in the theaters. The only reason I can fathom is due to all the bad press from the politically overcorrect media because there are too many white skinned actors playing the roll of an Egyptian.

If you're one of those intelligent people who can think independently and don't rely on the media to tell you how to think, you will find this movie to be a pleasant surprise. It is full of action, well scripted, good acting, and although it is full of CGI, you know that going into the movie and most of it is very well done.

This movie should have been a big commercial success; it is really good.

I'm at 50:49 during the writing of this post. I like GoE. There aren't many movies with this much action and supernatural magic. I don't like the casting for Sete..think it might be Gerard Butler. He is terrible in everything. Otherwise, this movie is a great adventure.

I really enjoyed it myself, although I can't help but think had it been animated (think Prince of Egypt or 90s Disney) it would have been far better received.

It's a "SyFy" channel movie with a bigger budget. The story is erratic and nonsensical, the actors phoned it in and it just generally blew and sucked at the same time. That's why it didn't do well at the box office...

This is the best cheesy swords & sorcery film to come along in quite some time. My new favorite guilty pleasure flick. Could it have been better? Absolutely. But when compared to films in the same genre (Scorpion King, Last Legion, Legend of Hercules), it's like night and day. That a film in the S&S genre was as good as Gods of Egypt was a pleasant surprise.

Also, can I just say I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that they didn't half-ass the mythology is places. You actually see Ra use his solar barge and a giant chain to pull the sun to the other side of a disc-shaped Earth. Goddamn was that awesome! And far more entertaining than yet another Marvel film or the train wreck that was Fast & Furious in Space (I mean, Star Trek Beyond).

It'll be so great to see the day where someone can have a different opinion on a movie without immediately calling everyone else unintelligent or coming up with a bunch of other completely imaginary reasons to explain why everyone else won't just agree with them.

Look mate, the movie got a lot of bad reviews because a lot of people thought it was a bad movie.
You disagree. That's fine. Doesn't make you any more of a intelligent, independent thinker though.

Sorry but it's just a plain old BAD movie. The CGI itself is so cheesy, it's 1980's grade CGI. I saw the movie on HBO and it is just awful.

Just watched it on DVD. I knew this movie did poorly in the box office. So I had zero expectations. And I do not think this movie is that bad.

Sure, if one needs to complaint about this movie, I can easily draw up a long list... bad background story, white actors playing Egyptians, handicapped CG, etc. The list goes on forever.

I just watch it as a fantasy story, or even as a video game story (some scenes does look like video game like LOL), and did not find this movie to be boring at all. It is very watchable and at not point I just wanted to FF it to the next chapter or something.

Would I watch it again? Probably not. Would I get upset had I watched it in a theater? I am not sure. I think I would still call it watchable. Just don't expect it to be a best of all time. It is a watered down for young boys movie. Had they make it to a hard R it would score much higher as an adult popcorn flick.
