BTW, this movie (along with the original Cannibal Holocaust) is more of an indictment on western culture (the bulldozers), not an attempt to demonize the natives who are simply shown to be defending their land at all times. Watch the original, watch this one again, and then make up your mind.

Something that's racist is an action/statement summoned upon with malice and forethought to degrade an entire ethnic group. I don't think Eli Roth specifically meant to piss off people from South America or that he was saying all Peruvians eat people. He wanted to make a movie about cannibals and they need to have some kind of nationality; not just be stick figures from another world.

I mean come on, people. It's one thing to say "Hey, native people aren't childlike saintly beings wandering the forests." but it's hardly the point of satire to demonize them either. Furthermore it seems to attack a strawman. I've never heard of liberal college kids getting excited for a cause who defend cannibal cultures (to the extent any exist anymore). As far as I know the only true cannibal societies existed in Polynesia and Hawaii, and even then it was generally ritualistic.

dopey liberal college kids get excited for causes like defending convicted murderers and cop killers...I would never underestimate just how pathetic and naive the liberal college protester can be.

Pretty sure Eli Roth isn't saying all of these South Americans are natives, just like Wrong Turn isn't saying all Western Virginians are inbred cannibals. They both wanted to make a cannibal movie and needed locations (Roth chose a jungle, WT people chose a forest) and characters who could logically be found there. Not really racist
