I thought she was the best part of the movie but I never did get around to reading the book. Will have to put that on the list next.

I personally didn't like her as Libby. I know that your mind always creates your own characters while reading the book, but Charlize didn't fit Libby whatsoever and the acting didn't fit what I considered how Libby would act either.
shareI wouldn't have cast her. I don't think she was right. She was too pretty, almost model like. It was unrealistic. And the first curly haired girl in the movie should have been Diondra, not the girl that played her. Bad casting.

shareI think Charlize did fine, but it didn't fit with me because of the constant emphasis in the book on the height/size of Libby. I was thinking Taryn Manning as I read the book if they would have died her hair a bit
shareYeah, and I liked the way she played the character as well not at all feminine in fact the opposite very masculine, reminded me of her character in Monster in that regard
