So did the Fiance actually die?
Kaylie's fiance - did he actually die or did they imagine that whole bit?

shareI like to think that he really did die.

^^ This
We see him as one of the Mirror's captive entities at one point so it is clear that he was really killed. Bloody fingerprints on the shard that killed him will show that Caley did it, but just like the testimony from Caley that her dad killed her mother that point will likely be ignored.
The only thing that bugged me in the movie was that point, Tim kills his dad who is guilty of murder (under possession) but gets committed anyway, and now he kills his sister who any forensic team could link to the murder (under possession) of her fiancé but Tim will get committed again.
All of this in a country that supports the right to bear arms so that good guys can kill bad guys, if you're gonna end up in a looney bin for killing a murderer then best to keep your gun to yourself :D

Umm.... It's fiction.
shareyeah i think so.. because she killed him with the broken planter pot and that was real not in her head.. poor guy!
Well it was his own fault for even being there!! This was a controlled experiment, she told him things were gonna get a little rocky but that she was handling it, but oooh no, he had to get all alpha male and protective, showing up where he wasn't wanted, bloody hell
LMAO!
shareHe was horny, he had to come.
shareSeems like he did but then why no mention at the end? They assume Tim killed his sister but did they think he killed Michael too? There would be the video that might show that Kaylie did it. That would complicate the situation somewhat. Seems an oversight by the director.
For reasons unknown....I resume....
She had his blood on her throughout so it must've been real
shareI don't think there's a way to know. They could have shown us at the end, by either the pólice mentioning they found his body, or him appearing there looking for her. But nothing.
Both seeing him dead, the blood on her, his spirit self at the end... it all could be an allucination.
Conclusion: We are all in the Matrix.
shareI'll upset the apple cart and say the Fiance never existed.
Note that his character was hardly filled in at all. Just a wisp. That's also why the cops don't mention his body.
The very last shot shows Young Kaylie watching the cops and ambulance pull away. That tells me that all the adult scenes were mind tricks by the Mirror. It was warning the kids what would happen if they tried to keep their vow to kill it.
Apparently, as another poster said, the Mirror has less effect on kids, possibly because their minds are less developed and more literal than that of adults.
