You Americans are so sad

I've just looked at the first couple of pages of this board and about 90% of the discussion is devoted to discussing RACE. Why are you all so goddam obsessed with RACE? I am Australian, we have a very multicultural society. While it certainly has its pockets of racism, it is nowhere near as colour-coded as your awful society. I can say in all honesty it never occurred to me even for a second while watching this film that the lead actors were different skin colours. I did not even notice, let alone care. That's because I wasn't raised in a culture that talks about 'us' and 'them' and what one colour does or doesn't do and the differences between colours and who should or shouldn't mix and BLAH BLAH BLAH. It;s all product of hate and fear. Why can't you just treat each other like human beings instead of dividing up into your little 'teams'. It really is both sad and sickening.

Judging a whole country based off an internet board (or even the bias news) is sad. And you don't even know if the posts are from Americans anyway.

So you create a thread that talks about race to complain that we talk about race too much. Good job.

13% of the population (African Americans) commit 49% of the gun violence in America. If there is any question to the veracity of those numbers, you can find them at FBI.gov & at the Bureau of Justice staticstics. Unfortunetly 2014 wasn't an outlier, those numbers have been that disproportionate for most of the last 20 years even with the FBI reporting crime/violence falling to 40 year lows last year. I know facts and statistics are racist.... as are bullets, evidently.

I believe there is a correlation between these numbers and the behaviour of the police across the country. Their seemingly uniform paranoia and escalation to violence probably seems bizarre to outsiders but consider Chicago. There are neighborhoods in Chicago with murder rates per capita well above both Honduras & Venezuela, who 'respectively' lead the world, While the offending cops should still answer for their crimes, remember the police didn't become like this in a vacuum. They work in the same black communities which are single handedly skewing the gun violence numbers in the country. You might be confused seeing African-American cops also involved in these unjustified killing, not just the supposedly 'racist' white cops. I believe this is because cops of every color and creed see the real world results of those numbers and it resonates They see violence, in the blink of an eye, destroy lives forever, often over nothing. They witness first hand what a bullet does to the human face. There is no unseeing these things for them, they don't have the luxury of looking away. To expect conditioning this explicit not to have profound effects on someone is naive at best. Far too often often police are involved in shootings that aren't justified, but make no mistake, their fear is completely justified.

Cheers
