I'm new to the series and have a question.

Spoilers ahead!

Started watching a few days back and now I'm in episode 5 of 2nd season and Pirate Captain Flint just kissed a guy. I don't have anything against homosexuals but I kinda feel disappointed because I was lead to believe that Flint's motivations was to make war against the world and loot for himself, now it seems he does it all to be with some guy he loves. Pfft.

This totally rewrites the character's goals and motivations. As a straight guy I'm not really interested in watching stories written with gay leading characters. I'm sure some of you out there felt this way. So I just want to know if this is how the rest of the story is going to be?

It's not only Flint but I also feel that Eleanor and Max's lesbian relationship is tacky and shallow, that includes Max and Anne's as well. It feels very superficial, added to titillate and be controversial, not because it naturally fit these characters and story.

Piratical character orientation was much better handled in Yellowbeard (1983).

Generally people who post things like this have a deep, dark fear that they have a very hard time admitting to anyone, namely that they have feelings that they are gay. Let me tell you. The very best thing to do for yourself is admit them and start living your true self. The longer you hide and deny your true nature, the longer you will be suffering. Just come out of that closet as soon as you can and you start breathe the fresh air of real life.
