Thinking she failed that test? seriously? after all the shit in her life shes been through thats what pushed her over the edge? and she didn't even know if she failed it she just assumed. I just thought it was a really dumb reason for her to do that, i mean theres never a good reason to kill yourself but doing it because you feel dumb has to be the dumbest reason i've heard for killing yourself.
shareI totally agree. I thought it was a disservice to all the history of her character. As complex as they tried to define her throughout the series, there wasn’t enough justification for that being the reason she committed suicide. I believe the writers just wanted to squeeze some emotion out of the story at her expense. Didn’t make any sense.
shareThey was just trying their damndest this season to throw dark shit at you for the sake of just having dark shit thrown at you, Tasty remaining in prison for life, that mom being left alone to die in the desert with a broken ankle, Maritza getting deported, Pennsatucky killing herself, they just went overboard with the dark depressing shit this season.
And Pennsatucky's suicide felt like the most out of the blue just for shock value shit i've ever seen, as you said there wasn't enough justification for that being the reason she did it. Getting raped didn't do it for her? her father treating her like shit and calling her retard didn't do it? but cause she thinks she failed a test is what did it for her? so fucking stupid.

I wasn’t a big fan of the show but the actors were memorable in their roles, which most deserved more plausible closure to their stories.
Also, I really think all of this desire for writers to inject the “topics of today” into every story is going to make these shows look very dated in retrospect.
Think about it for a second.....
Here is this character that thought all through her life she was "stupid" and through her life, she led a nihilistic life because of that belief. Then, in the end, she found out she had an actual disability and how this test became her belief for her self-imagined salvation and then, in the end, she meets an asshole that refuses to acknowledge her disability and give her the needed time so she could prove to herself and others that she was worthy of not being seen as she thought everyone had seen her entire life.
How do you know it was suicide instead of an accidental overdose?

I took it as she just thought "fuck it all". She did so much to get clean and be a better person, But quitting drugs didnt change anything, so she might aswell start again to try to remove the pain she feels
