I was so disappointed by this season of Orange, it was such a let down.
I also just finished season four of Wentworth and there is no comparison, it was a million times better than Orange.
Not sure if I will come back for season 5 of Orange, it was extremely lackluster and boring. It's quite sad as I have loved the show.
Just this season? Heck, I am disappointed with Orange as a whole. Wentworth is just so much better in every way. Orange isn't even in the same league as Wentworth. Heck, Wentworth's first four episodes are already better than all four seasons of Orange.
Wentworth > Orange. Nuff said.
wdbehg17; I agree with you and I will look up Wentworth and see if I like it. Regarding Orange, my wife and I watched the first 3 episodes of the first season and have absolutely no desire to watch another minute of this dramatic series. How it continues to be listed as a comedy is beyond me. I know comedy, and this show is NOT comedy.

shareWhilst this episode was simmering with the ongoing contradictions, prison guard brutality and intentionally stirred up racial tension - it was let down by the timing of the murder of Poussey and the appearance of the police. Especially as the rightfully resentful, angry prisoners did not use any of the hidden mobile 'phones to contact the police when it was clear that the MCC were holding back in order to concoct a fabricated story line. Nor did Tasty take the opportunity to use the office 'phone to contact the police. A glaring and overdrawn flaw.

shareI thought overall season four was much improved over season three. Season three bored the hell out of me to the point where I didn't bother watching the new season until August. Season four was interesting to me with the influx of new characters and the stories they were able to tell. It wasn't perfect but much improved.
I'm going to look into this Wentworth show and maybe add it to my watch list though.
Opinions, etc, but I thought season 4 was Amazing. The best season yet.
shareI agree - I thought this was the best season yet, although was very sad about Poussey's death. I love the development of Pennsytucky's and Big Boo's characters. And I even came to like the guard that raped Pennsyltucky.

The way this show is able to have you build sympathy for characters you dismiss right off the bat is truly a feat, and season 4 was definitely not lacking in this. Wow, what a great season. I am so pumped for season 5.

Different strokes for different folks I think Season 4 was one of the best.

This show shoulc be flushed down the toilet. Everything is completely ridiculous. The writing is garbage. The storyline and the characters are all garbage. Nothing that happens makes any sense. It basically is like a prison full of moron prisoners guarded by moron guards.

OZ was about the characters, and conflicts between them. Orange is more about faux social commentary, trying to stir up ridiculous images of racist white guards (most prison guards are black, espec i areas With black prisoners), and concocted racial conflicts, while the black Power puff Girls are friendly and Nice to martha stewart and other ladies. At least Oz had no sympathetic characters. Orange tries to tell a story With an agenda, so transparent that OPs mom wants to wear it when going to the truck stop.
shareOrange is the New Black does nothing BUT focus on individual characters. The points that you bring up about faux social commentary don't really fit the story season 4 was telling. There wasn't even focus on mistreatment of black prisoners throughout the season. The guards were horrible to everyone, and the subsequent racial tension was mostly between the white and Hispanic prisoners. What does the group of black girls being nice to Judy King have to do with anything? Even when it does cover social commentary, I thought they did it pretty well throughout the season. We don't just side with the victimized prisoners.
Throughout the season we are privy to Caputo's struggles to run a safe prison at the corporate level. We are also given an in-depth look at the life of the prison guard who is at the crux of the 'Black Lives Matter' storyline. Clearly, they humanize him and we see that things in a situation like that are hardly black and white (excuse the term). There are times when shows are a bit too PC for my taste, but there are other times when people look for a problem where there is none because they have their own agenda. Season 4 was great imo.
This is an environment of welcoming, and you should just get the hell out of here-Michael Scott
If you are onboard with there being a BLM plot story, then you are agreeing to my main gripe. Then look at the entire Picture painted by the season. The nazis who spring out from nowhere, the silly racial tensions, the guards being artificially white and racist. I just get exhausted by seeing this trite old story, wrapped up in such a preachy package.

It has gone downhill very fast... and it's a pity since it has a great cast and amazing characters, but that's all.
I won't be back for season 5 since season 3 and 4 were a downer!!
