Supernatural element

Had really high hopes for longlegs but left the cinema slightly disappointed. 6.5/10 for me. Loved the acting, cinematography and sound track.
I think I went in thinking there would be no supernatural element to the movie. It was gonna just be a good old fashion fbi/serial killer movie,
Like silence of the lambs and seven.

I guess it’s personal preference but would have liked to see a non supernatural longlegs.

When it involves the occult, it can go either way.

From the director: "Perkins blends psychological and supernatural horror in a manner not quite seen before."

agreed, thought that aspect ruined the movie.

Wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment. It was an inappropriate blending of the two genres. This movie had to decide which it was going to be: supernatural horror or FBI procedural into serial killing. It was lazy writing. SPOILER alert:

You can't put these life-sized dolls in families' homes have the fathers turn into homicidal maniacs, wife and kids pliant victims and say that the silver ball in the dolls' heads are imbued with Satan. Come up with a g-d damned tech reason for why this works.

Nah…I like it better with the supernatural

I liked everything about this movie except for what it was about. The camera work, atmosphere, lighting, mood, switching of aspect ratios, the way you can tell its the 90s just by looking at it. It's also very unnerving. Just I felt the story was paying lip service to old supernatural thriller tropes. You say the devil, I say I don't really care.

If anyone's interested, I reviewed the movie on my youtube channel. Appreciate any feedback. Trying to improve -https://youtu.be/sIpuq9ORZhc

This is what I thought it was as well. As soon as I heard about the supernatural mumbo-jumbo, I lost interest.

The X-files was ground breaking and had a long run.
