Seconded, great movie, and it's also Antipodean (New Zealand this time)

Look for any film with a story line that could be written on a napkin over lunch and a financial return that can only be described as a Train wreck. AKA any film written and directed by David Michôd.

This is Michod's second film. Did he wrong you in some way? LOL!

reply

I was thinking the same. He/she has used several threads to express his/her dislike for the film and Michôd and the actors and the budget and the plot and..... It's his right of course but after a while it becomes funny lol.

Your IMDb postings add up to 11. 10 of which are to post negative comments about this movie. Did David Michôd run over your cat or something because you really are starting to look like you have some sort of personal agenda.

GTF over it.

In some ways "The Rover" reminded me of this film:

Red (2008)

"Young Ones" (2014)

I just saw Sicario, with Emily Blunt and Benicio DelToro and it reminded me a bit of The Rover, in that it was partially set in a desolate landscape, long takes and slow, deliberate scenes, there was a lot of ruthless killing, violence, and few repercussions. They did horrible things and got away with it.

Blue Ruin, and The Road (which also had Guy Pierce) were my first comparisons. A Boy And His Dog and Mad Max are thematically similar but not as similar in tone.
