Another Overrated 'Black' Film

It seems the media has different levels of critique for films that are directed and star African Americans. This film is very amateurish, formulaic, and fairly boring.

However, it is a serious film about race in the United States and was made by and stars blacks. Therefore, I guess it deserves an Oscar?

It's part of the genre' of films that they know no one will dare criticize because of it's content. There are several every year now.

I don't think it's a black film, but I agree it overrated. This is an unexceptional film about an unexceptional man caught up in extreme circumstances, and I believe it failed to shed any light on an extremely volatile situation. 6/10 stars from me.

I was very impressed with the film. It was patient, wise, and thoughtful. I thought the direction was brilliant.

If the OP gets himself shot dead by a cop, maybe a white guy will make an amateurish film about your life.

It's that man again!!

If anything, this film is underrated. It is an excellent film and did not even get nominated for a single Oscar. I don't think it is a black film and really we shouldn't label films as black films or white films. A great film, such as this one, can be appreciated by people of all races.
