Glaring plot holes

The first one that comes to mind is the prison visit scene where the two creeps are discussing their "ring" being discovered. You're telling me the detectives are trying to track down a massive child abduction ring and they didn't bother checking out who was visiting one of their prime suspects in prison?

Most of these aren't actually plot holes, let along "glaring" plot holes. They're just people behaving stupidly or unbelievably.

I felt like they didn't both with any subtlety of character development. Mom went form "what's going on?" to "YOU SINGLE-HANDEDLY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR LOSING OUR DAUGHTER I HATE YOU FOREVER *PUNCH**PUNCH*" (and then proceeded to be 1000% useless for the rest of the movie). Just like the police seemed to not even give any consideration to the fact that MAYBE the daughter actually WAS kidnapped, and the father didn't have anything to do with it.

And I agree with a previous commentor, that it's 100% not strange that the daughter was laying in the back seat of the truck. And Ryan Reynold's character should have said as much, and pointed out that she wasn't NAPPING, she was just laying there fooling around (I did that all the time as a kid/teen) and chatting. And even if she WAS taking a nap, BFD. It happens. And the fact that she was lying down easily explains why the chick in the pie shop did not see her. Instead, the idiot detective takes it as incontrovertible proof that dad is guilty. Oh, that and the fact that he's in debt. Obviously, anyone who's in debt would certainly sell their child into a porn ring. FFS.

Then Ryan Reynolds follows the woman from the skating rink, assuming (for whatever reason, male intuition I guess) that they are the ones who stole his daughter. He puts his phone on their car to be tracked, the one somewhat intelligent thing done in the entire movie. Then he ruins it completely, by going into the motel/diner place and confronting them. He got lucky to grab the woman's phone, but he wouldn't have know going in that that would be a possibility.

And then in the car chase scene, when the oncoming police car was coming, he should have just pulled across the road and stopped or something.

Someone said that the version of the movie they watched had the year that whatever scene was going on took place. Mine certainly didn't (I even had subtitles on). That would have been REALLY nice. It was needlessly confusing without it.

I do think the acting was pretty good though. Just every single character was unlikeable, and that coupled with stupid plot writing, and you're gonna have a bad time.

I guess, why do you think when he came to the prison to interview, he used real id or gave his real name? If I were a intelligent criminal running a massive ring of children and having all this high tech gadgetry..... I'd probably give the real name of a person I thought was clean with no criminal record that happened to be a family member...like his dad or father. So if the cops check who visited, they see 'Oh, John Doe's father visited."

this film is shockingly bad. so many implausible plot developments and illogical actions my favourite is when reynolds was trying to attract the attention of the police he blows his horn, instead of say, slamming on his brakes or doing exactly what he does a moment later, which is turn the car around and go after the police. why on earth did the abductor go back to his home, knowing as he did that the police were closing in? i could go on, but others have already pointed how how flawed the plot development is. add in the horrible characterisation, especially of the mother, and the nonsensical chronological order, and it becomes hard to find any redeeming qualities in this film.

ps. jeff must be the worse cop in existence. hopefully matthew will sue the testicles off the police.

Most plot holes already mentioned but how about getting shot with a tranquilizer dart and left in the snow !
Hypothermia should have killed him or at least put him in the hospital!
This script was like an episode of Charlie’s Angels

I'm amazed at how many people don't know the difference between plot holes and implausibilities.
