Only successful horror movie without sequel?

This is the only one I can think right now.

reply

How successful was this? I know it's popular with women on prozac.

reply

It generated wider attention internationally, grossing $10 million against its $2 million budget. The film was praised for the performances of the cast, creature design, premise, and themes.

reply

Well then, you may be correct. Even The Shining had a sequel.

reply

Exactly, and It Follows now too.

I can think in Barbarian too, although is more thriller than pure horror.

reply

It's early. Barbarian might still get a sequel.

reply

The Others (2001) Budget $17 million, Box office $210 million

reply

Ah, that too, was an awesome film, indeed.

reply

True, but more drama than horror, like The sixth sense.

reply

There are elements of drama, sure, like there are in many horror films; but in no way would I call The Others more of a drama than a horror film.
