There was real erotic chemistry between them in Series 1 (just starting Series 2). They wouldn't dare have the main characters as a gay couple on a US show like this. Gay main characters have to be in proper gay shows like OITNB, not in regular shows.
Honestly, if this third season is in fact the final season, I think the writers/creators should just go for it. Even if they don't go "all the way", I still think the tension should escalate to some kind of confrontation/revelation between the two.
Despite no other connection, they were having the same dreams from the beginning. Plus the women that each has slept with has also had a connection to the other. Just cut out the middle-woman and let them get it on. Though i think they are soulmates too.
there connection is that of a family one. Olivia is Peters grandmother(maybe great great great depending on how long ago her daughter was born and how many generations were born since then) that makes Roman Peters great great great great etc Uncle
It was at the end of season one. When they told Famke Jaansen's character's backstory, her mother had dallied with a Romani man. Then at another point, an old Romani woman tells a story about it. I don't remember the details exactly, but it was in the same episodes where we see Famke Jaansen as a child, and the impression I got was definitely that they came from the same family line.
These two characters are the only ones with any real chemistry on this show, and it would be really daring and different for the show to go in that direction.
I doubt they'll have the guts. They'll probably keep on queer-baiting the audience to keep viewership, rather than building on what's there. That's a shame.
I just think it would be really awesome if the show went there. I don't know of any other show that's had their male leads end up together. It would be a shame to waste all that chemistry since you know that if either Peter or Roman were a female character they probably would have gotten together long ago.
I think it depends on the type of storytelling. There have been series that keep the sexual tension for over 4 seasons before they will hook up. Look how long it took Booth and Boon to get together on "Bones".
Not a regular viewer of Bones, I thought it took forever for Booth and Boon to finally end up together and I didn't even sit through the 4 seasons of tension like fans had to.
I am, however, a regular reader of fanfiction and let me just say, with only having just watched season 1, I'd really rather them hurry up and get to what everyone (myself included) appears to be wanting. I think they would make the most perfect opposites-attract sort of couple. Also, if they're planning on stopping after season 3... they'd better not have the same time line as the pair did on Bones or else we viewers will be "gypped" (horrible, I know).
It was a day like any other except it was 14 hours long and everybody was wearing pastels
I think it is one of those situations where they have made it deliberately ambiguous - if you are looking for sexual tension between the two, you will find it, and if you are not, then they are just two guys with an intense, somewhat co-dependant friendship. Roman has always been portrayed as emotionally needy as well as sexually adventurous, and with Peter as his first real male friend, it wouldn't be unexpected for him to have feelings for him. Peter is somewhat more restrained emotionally however; but then again he was also pretty hasty in following Miranda up the stairs for a threesome with Roman...
I think the ambiguity is a deliberate tactic, that way the writers can make it go either way without it going against the history/canon of the show. There is only one season left, so I wouldn't be surprised if they do go there; even if there is backlash for pairing up the 2 male leads in a show that hasn't marketed itself as a 'gay' show, it won't matter anyway.
Admittedly, I am one of those who looks for the 'moments' between these two, their on screen chemistry is certainly much more compelling than any other pairing. That being said, their friendship is the most interesting part of the show, and whether or not they progress that friendship further is irrelevant to me, as long as it remains the centre of the show.
Roman and Peter together (friendship or otherwise) with Destiny and Nadia would be a great combination for a family unit. The three adults all work well together unlike with Miranda in which she only worked well with Roman and Peter on one type of occasion.
The chemistry is palpable. I don't know if they'll ever have them hook up, but it definitely seems more likely on this show than on, say, a CW show. It's probably less likely than a True Blood hook up, though.
I agree, there is definitely a electricity between Peter and Roman. I felt like the relationship between Letha and Peter was sort of forced, in order to make action happen for the rest of the plot. I do, also, enjoy the chemistry between Roman and Shelley.
And yeah I definitely felt something between Peter and Roman but I mostly felt it from Roman towards Peter because Peter was supposedly so in love with Letha and to me it feels like Peter sees Roman as a brother.
