by rachellewrx The machines are taking over. The Terminator movie proves it, right?
You jest but machines really ARE taking over -- at least they're taking over jobs in the USA.
Who doesn't long for the 'old times' when, instead of 'please choose from the following selections' recordings we actually were able to speak with human telephone operators/customer service reps?
Sometimes it may feel more expedient but, for eg., Walmart and other stores now have 'self check out' option for checking our own purchases using their machines instead of living, human being Checkers.
My husband has a client who works for Stater Bros as a manager. Plan is to have groceries delivered after we place our order via computer and the order will be filled via machines/robot (truly.)
So, it may be funny to kid around but it really is something humans will or already seeing.
(It's not unheard of that actors are concerned that they will not be needed as CGI gets better and better.)
Machines really do cost less than human employees but what is the REAL cost to us all?
(The soap box is now free.)
