My theory is that he'd wanted to leave royal life for a long time, but still wanted to live in luxury and didn't have enough money of his own to do so. So he'd been looking for a rich wife for a long time, lost Chelsy Davy but settled for Markle, who was sure she could monetize his fame the way Hollywood A-Listers do. So now they aren't making the kind of money they'd hoped for, not enough to live like billionaires (or the Prince of Wales), so I'd REALLY like to know what's going on between those two in private...
I semi agree with you. But, I believe Meghan put thoughts about monetizing the royal title and becoming a jet setter in Harry's head. Harry already had a networth est. $25 million from his mother and great grand-mother which wasn't enough for Meghan. He appeared to be happy living in a cottage, but Meghan thought it was beneath her. She realized the royal lifestyle wasn't glamorous and wanted out.
The two of them are liars and hypocrites so it's difficult to know what's really going on. I read their PR firm told them they could make $100 million each year. She'll eventually dump him like she has done with everyone else especially if a billionaire or guy with his own private jet comes along.
Oh, I'm sure she'd dump him if a billionaire wanted to marry her, but billionaires can do better that a fortyish woman with two kids.
And they could have lived quite comfortably and privately on Harry's inheritance, if they'd actually wanted privacy. We don't know which of them wants to live in a grandiose mansion (probably both), but we do know that Harry could have taken his inheritance and and lived the private life he claims to want for the last 20 years, but he didnt. So I suspect he wants more than a house that isn't a mansion and an income of a few hundred grand a year.
Meghan is extremely ambitious and wanted to be a movie star. When that failed, she wanted her friends to introduce her to a rich British man. A royal was even better since that it included wealth and a title. But, she didn't know American movies about royalty had nothing to do with the drab reality.
Culturally, the jet set lifestyle goal tends to be more of an American thing. I really believe that goal was originally hers. Harry appeared to be content, like royals before him, with living in the cottage until Meghan told him differently. Now, he looks miserable.
They never wanted privacy. They want a "lifestyles of the rich and famous" which includes hobnobbing with rich celebs, private jets, multiple mansions and front page news blasting their many "achievements". That's the reason they hired publicists who are paid to keep their names in the news each week.
Don't underestimate Meghan's ability to get a billionaire. Jerry Hall married Rupert Murdoch when she was 60. Mellody Hobson married George Lucas when she was 40. She only needs to find a weak-minded billionaire to use her manipulation super-power.
