Was this movie trying to say that...

... women can be evil too and can also cross the line and commit illegal and immoral deeds? Or something along those lines? Without being sexist or misogynistic in any way? And without denying the common reality of the well known and also extremely common male evil here and there?

Cheers.

Um…Yeah.

Even if it also in a way may perhaps have wanted to explore such other topics as the media, the social media, how media affects matters, how we look at men and women in society (and boy, this surely DOES strike a chord), mental illness, marriage breakdown etc etc etc.

And is it also a coincidence or essence do you think that in this movie, Amy Dunn's character is not portrayed just as an outright villain and you don't have a final climax of the movie with say the male character trying to battle her and survive her with her possibly dying as a result?

As for the final part also, is there really MORE to it than simply - Certain social focus groups like feminism and the social media would NOT approve?

Hasn't stopped films featuring such climaxes like in Hand That Rocks the Cradle or Fatal Attraction and others. But others also had, as did this movie, such err female anti-heroines getting away with it, and often not because they deserved to, but because they were smart enough and manipulative enough and WANTED to do so. Police, and other forces, and in latter example possibly thankfully, hadn't caught on.
