Didn't like it

I really expect a lot from the Marvel movies tbh. However, I feel this movie was just not good. It was below average imo.
I'm a very liberal guy but I hate this forced diversity nonsense with the token white, black, brown, yellow people strewn about and the racist/anti white type jokes (e.g. at the Washington DC monument with slaves building the monument). What, I'm supposed to laugh at that or cringe?

The whole Aunt May being a sex doll was ...ugh. I mean Marisa Tomei is hot but it was just stupid. Calling her "May" instead of Aunt May. What?

Peter Parker was stupid imo. Worse than Andrew Garfield.
And he doesn't even have any real web slinging power?
I mean, this is not even Spider-man. It's basically Iron Man pt 3.5

The acting was cheesy, the dialog/situations were crap, everything about the villain was bad, the final plane crash with Vulture was ridiculously stupid.

Actually, this is the first Marvel movie that I didn't really like. Not terrible, but not up to their usual standards.

Tobey MacGuire is Spider-man. The Spider-man 2002 movie the ultimate Spider-man movie imo. So many memorable dialogs/scenes that you can even quote to this day. No forced diversity crap thrown in your face. No Spider-man running out of webbing fluid nonsense. (I thought Spider-man was actually powerful. Not cheesy needing Iron Man tech to sling around).

Rated: 5.5/10

Yup. I don't hate the movie quite as much as you but I never rewatched it and I doubt I ever will. Always good to see Michael Keaton, especially in villain form. But meh. There's a few core Spider-Man attributes that should never be strayed from. Aunt May is an elderly bat. MJ is the ultimate cliche white bread dream girl. Parker is entirely self reliant and creates his own future with just his wits. These are staples of the character. When you dilute them, you just have a generic superhero on your hands. They did the same thing in Batman Begins when they outsourced all Bruce Wayne's ingenuity to company assets. Assassinated the character. Remember when they had Gwen have kids with Goblin before he killed her? Or when they made Parker's parents super spies? The comics are just as guilty as this film for messing with stuff that ain't broken. If a story runs long enough, they'll ruin it.
