Third Best Spider-Man Movie So Far

I didn't think I would like this movie that much. The high school movie gimmick sounded stupid and MCU movies in general are mainly just ok.

But this was hands down much better than the two Amazing Spider Man movies, better than Spider Man 3, and better than most MCU movies. It brought some of the good aspects of both the MCU and the Sony movies.

Michael Keaton as Vulture, for me, was the best part. He is the best MCU villain so far IMO.

I know there seems to be a lot of DCEU fanboys or just straight up haters on these boards, but I for one really liked the movie

It's the best Spider Man in MCU. Saimi's first two Spider Man are the best as stand alone movies that as nothing to do with any universe. Agree about Keaton's Vulture. He is the best villain so far, but after Loki in Thor 1 and Avengers 1.

Say what you will about Michael Keaton, he knows how to play a birdman.

His incarnation of Vulture soars over the pitfalls of his villainous predecessors in Homecoming, always retaining a modicum of charm even in his darkest hours.

It's easy to sympathize with Adrian Toomes as his layers are stripped away and his true, family-centric motivation for maintaining a criminal empire is revealed - and who wasn't on his side when the government muscles in on his alien salvage operations?

Toomes walks the tightrope of grey morality throughout, and his ruthless mindset is perfectly offset against the fledgling Spider-Man's purist take on good and evil.

Homecoming's tone is often lighthearted, almost John Hughes-esque during the high school scenes, but an appearance by Keaton is all it takes for a dramatic shift towards darkness, such is his screen presence.

In full Vulture mode, Toomes is as threatening as his is awe-inspiring and always conveys a sense of being Spidey's physical superior, without descending into farcical territory like the original Green Goblin and a dozen other villains we could mention.

Toomes also earns bonus points for running a crew comprised of other classic Spidey villains, such as The Tinkerer and two versions of the Shocker. They could have claimed standalone entires on this list with a little more screen time.

Keaton's contract with Marvel Studios is for one movie, but let's hope the Vulture makes a more permanent nest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It's for sure the best since Spider-Man 2, and I'd say even better than the first Spider-Man.

Tom Holland is the superior Parker/Spidey in comparison to Maguire though.

The 3rd best out of 6 movies? That can't be right.
