I'm glad this movie gives so much joy to so many people

I liked the scenes with music playing, and the daddy-daughter stuff. The sci-fi part was just too cheesy/silly for me (yes, I understand that was what they were going for). But I feel like a Grinch for feeling that way after I see all the comments here ("Hondo").

I loved the premise, but I thought the execution was weak and frustrating. There were so many plotlines, very few of which made sense (not in a hilarious comic way, either), and the thing felt bloated and overstuffed.

The premise is so, so, so good - invading alien hears music for the first time - but there seemed to be a plothole every other scene.
