The hate for this one is so unwarranted, be glad they didn't remake the original, like they originally had planned to

Would you really want a remake of the first one, back in the late 2000s or early 2010s when so many of these subpar remakes of horror films were being pumped out like a brothel? I mean the 2019 one was bad enough, but it probably would've been worse than the Elm Street remake had the original idea to remake this in 2010 went through. You can thank MGM/United Artists from stopping that from happening. I'm so sick of hearing how bad Curse is. It's not, it saved the goddamn franchise, so STFU and be glad it didn't get remade before 2019.

When Seed of Chucky didn't perform well and got negative reviews, Don Mancini almost remade the original 1988 film. There was nowhere else to take the franchise back in the mid 2000s. Horror movie remakes were the norm from 2005-2010 and Don Mancini saw how successful the 2007 Rob Zombie reboot of Halloween was and then got the idea to remake the original. It made it as far as 2010 before it was shelved, in favor of a 6th installment and one that doesn't even fucking deserve to get shat on. I'll gladly take any hate for Cult of Chucky or the TV show, but Curse does not deserve any of it! It was almost as good as the first two from the late 80s and early 90s. A little boring at times but a vast improvement over the garbage that was Seed.

Don Mancini actually got to sorta remake the first one, just not in the way he originally had planned. Curse goes back to the old school feel of the original by bringing it back to its darker roots by eliminating almost all of the comedy from the last two films, bringng back the house setting that has been absent since the second film, and once again not revealing Chucky being alive until the 3rd act.
