Watching the scene when the draft actually started we see football fans all dressed up and cheering on the pick as if they were watching a game. Do people really get that excited for it that much?
The NFL used to be a holiday between me and my friends. That is, before they split up the first four rounds over several days and I lost any and all interest in the NFL.
To put in perspective how excited fans get, you have to pretty much camp overnight (unless you live in the Big Apple) just to guarantee yourself a foot in the door on draft day.
I live about an hour outside of NYC, so my father and I would always talk about going. Once year, I got there at 6am for a noon start time and just barely got in.
A few years later, the excitement has grown to the point where I tried doing that again and did not even get close to getting in...There was a good 200-300 people in front of me when the doors were closed for full capacity...It was later known that the NFL started handing out the entry bracelets the night before around 11pm.
That was the reason they made the film - so many people watch it on TV. BUT, as one reviewer mentioned, fans want to see their picks, and how well they do during the season. On-field and fantasy football. But this was a movie, without that payoff.
