Cassie LNU

I am so pleased with how this modest series is playing out. Given how a prime-time broadcast network series MUST communicate to a huge audience, the writing has been consistently clever, engaging, even moving, and accessible. “She has a singular intelligence.” “But she’s not Moriarty.” Wow. The pas de deux between Sherlock and his ostensible daughter sucked me right in, as did his caring, dare I say fatherly, guiding her away from crime as a life choice. As Holmes put it, the two of them are not like other people. They are gifted; as a consequence, removed from most potential company. Not only do gifted people need each other, because all people need human connection because of their emotions, but the world needs for them to have those grounding, balancing and stabilizing forces in their lives, because of what they give to us who are distanced from them. Fire. The Wheel. Peace. I am so glad that Elementary is going out this way. I so hope that Moriarty makes her return, and meets Cassie.

I strongly suspect we've seen the last of Cassie.

I'd guess from her final reaction that she's not actually Sherlock's daughter and knows it.

But their last scene together sets her up to follow "the right path." That could very well be where we leave her.

I was thrilled that they brought Cassie back. Hers was a character that I always thought they missed the boat on making a returning character. I also agree Extechop in that we probably won't see her again though I hope to be wrong.

[spoilers]Now that Morland is dead, I think things will get very bad for our gang and probably some deaths (at least some irregulars and maybe Bell). I think that Moriarty will return to run her organization and she will be the one who uses deadly force to end the Reichenbach conflict[/spoilers]

My box indicates that there are only 3 episodes left in the season! Please tell me that this final season is not a short one!

One episode left, a total of 13 (the finale titled Their Final Bow, an emendation of Conan Doyle’s His Final Bow, one of the reasons why this show matters to me, because the show runners so clearly know and respect the source material). I am grateful that CBS gave Elementary this much of a sendoff. They did not cut it loose. They did not summarily end it (e.g., Fox with Married . . . With Children). Elementary has been a broadcast network’s version of a class act from start to finish. Summer is the perfect time to end it. The loyal fans will savor it. It is a diamond among all the other disposable summer placeholder series. And of course Moriarty must return for her final bow! A standing ovation!

I really enjoyed this episode. Hated her character before this. Her scenes with Sherlock deepened his character which is quite something this far in.
