Those two kids seriously need to die. The kid would risk his family to save a stranger on a purge night. The daughter is more worried about her boyfriend than her father. The seen when the shooting happened, she rushed to save him and didn't give a rat's ass about her own father. Terrible writing and acting.

shareI watched the movie last night .. and afterwards I thought it should be shown to young couples so they would not have kids .. lol .. but in this movie , I think him being let in saved the father from being killed by the boyfriend .. who dies himself and he should have .. but the guy that was let in at least played a part in saving most of the family .. but yeah .. I wanted to beat the daylights out of that little boy for what he did .

About half way into it I was thinking "Kill the whole family off and start another one. This one is a total failure."

shareYeah, both kids were idiots. The whole thing wouldn't have happened if it hadn't been for the boy. And the girl, yeah, your boyfriend sneaks in your house with a gun on Purge night, and he only wants to "talk" to your dad, sure, that's believable.
Also, slightly OT, but I always thought those cookies at the start were poisoned.
The kids from Jurassic Park and San Andreas have them beat. The daughter from Purge: Anarchy was awful too.
shareI fail to see what is so wrong with the kid. Let's be honest we didn't always make rational decisions when we were younger. If I was in that kids shoes I would've done the same thing. And at least the guy he let in ended up not being a killer and saving them at the end.
shareI agree with you. Also, it's weird that the kid having empathy for the stranger or as one commenter said being a "bleeding heart" is seen as a bad thing. Sensitivity and caring is devalued in todays society and that's really *beep* up!

You sound like a sociapth. Yes your family comes first but anyone that isn't cold hearted would show compassion for others and do what the kid did. Obviously the kid is a good judge of character as the homeless man meant no harm to them and even saved their asses from the neighbor. So what it boils down to is you guys are the prime example of why I have more compassion for animals. Some humans are scum cold and heartless it's not any surprise that there is so much hate in the world.

Jaden Smith's character in the remake of "The Day The Earth Stood Still" takes top spot. Bratty, wise-ass, spoiled turd. That movie did not have a lot going for it as it was but that brat made it unbearable.

Watching The Purge and praying for the entire family to die!! That might make it worth my while suffering through it. The parents have no idea where their kids are at any point after the son left the homeless person in.

Lol! I felt bad for disliking Charlie so much, but I see everybody else did too! No offense to the young actor, not his fault, but either the director wanted the character to be annoying, or he was oblivious to the final result. And it's not cause he wanted to help the guy in danger, but the WAY he did it...and hos favorite toy is a doll's head with third-degree burns on its face.
Glad Spielberg films were mentioned... He has an uncontrollable compulsion to include incredibly annoying kids in EVERY movie of his. WTF? Like Stephen King's books...whiny annoying unrealistic kids who have an unusual "psychic" power that they can'f control. The gimmick is old. And does every child have to have parents who are either divorced or about to divorce?
But yeah, both kids in the Purge were impossible to like...and adversely affected the movie.
O . . . M . . . G! That is EXACTLY what I was thinking. I couldn't even enjoy that freakin' movie for trying to imagine grisly ways to dismember Dakota Fanning. She was THE MOST annoying kid character I have EVER seen in a movie. Seriously. The couple of time Tom Cruise tells her not to "ask so many questions," I would have been like, "SHUT THE FRICK UP!!!" "Are we all right - Where's mom - there's tornadoes? - I have back problems - Where's Robbie? - But we know, right?" -
I guess the guy was just as bad, but at least he was being a typical teen male bad-ass wannabe. But I was too focused on strangling her . . . (kidding, of course).

Yeah I'm sure you were such a good 3 shoes when you were a kid(rolls eyes). Fact is the kid made a smart decision. Saving the guy ended up saving their asses in the end. The kid had compassion unlike the sociopaths on this board.
