The most satisfying series finale I may have ever seen.

I've watched tv all of my life and I'm 64 year old. I don't know if I have ever felt so satisfied after watching a series finale as I have after watching that of Rectify.
Aden Young really created a memorable character in his portrayal of Daniel Holden.
So even though I know the ending I am going to enjoy rewatching the entire series.

I could not agree with you more OP, it was a sublime series with a wonderful "cautiously optimistic" ending, as Daniel himself said.

I read a critic who said this was the best television series that nobody has ever seen, which sadly seems to be the case - I truly hope some brave British TV channel gets their hands on it, but I sadly doubt it. I had to watch it the naughty way but am so glad I did.

I greatly enjoyed this show and was hooked from the first episode on. It was an emotional roller coaster ride and they did a fantastic job executing it.

The audience rooted for Daniel throughout the show. Even when he took the deal and left the state did we hope that he wasn't the one who killed Hannah. That he would come back vindicated one day.
With that said, how did they Rectify the potential wrong - to the best of their ability, anyway by clearing his name - at the end of the show? They didn't.

It's up in the air - could go either way. He may be forever "exiled" and a parolee with restrictions on his life and future for a very long time - as an innocent man or a guilty one?

Nothing could ever replace what was lost or fully restore the damage done to all involved, but actually seeing justice being done would have been great... The state potentially cheated a man out of 20 years of his life through incompetence, negligence, prejudice and corruption.

I would go with anticlimactic there on the ending...

Amantha herself mentioned that there is no way to rectify what daniel has been through

The audience rooted for Daniel throughout the show.

Ahaha... Rooted throughout the show, eh? I mean, he's good-looking man and all, but that would take some stamina!😂

OK, couldn't help myself there. 'Root' is the Australian word for 'shag'.

They didn't.

Indeed, they did not. The closest they came was to have Amantha actually use the word "rectify".

Of course, one could see the title as ironic. That there can be no rectifying what happened to Daniel, if he is innocent. And that is true. No amount of money, assuming he was awarded any, which is also never implied, can make up for 20 lost years.

I assume that McKinnon is against the death penalty and "Rectify" (the series) is his way of pointing out how inhuman and inhumane such a punishment is, for those so convinced. That had Daniel actually been executed and innocent -- there would never be a chance to rectify that.
