Would rate it higher but... (spoilers)
Way too predictable. Like obviously the gun isn't loaded (well he took the gunpowder out of the bullets but same thing), and you know both John and Amanda live anyway because it's a prequel. Could have had both of them taking more of a beating before the final game.
I'd say it's still better than the last few instalments but it's time for this series to be put to rest. Similar to the Halloween series, it's beating a dead horse at this point.
Alternatively, you do a Freddy vs Jason thing, like Jigsaw vs Michael (Myers) and make it part of the canon. At least do something ridiculous with the series and it won't be so predictable.
