Was Mr Wolf suppose to come across as a paedophile?
because that's the impression I got.
shareYes. He was. That's why he had a coat full of candy.
shareNo, not at all. His entire focus was to eat the girl. Listen to the lyrics, there was no sexual innuendo.

Make a choice, to take a chance, to make a difference.
He kinda was. In the stage show, his actions are much more sexual. The movie made him more Just a hungry beast.

The wolf in the story of Little Red Riding Hood has always represented a human threat(either sexual predators or murderers) to children, not an actual wolf. Grimm's fairy tales are dark. Hansel and Gretel has been associated with stories of people in Germany turning to cannibalism during a long famine.
"Visions are worth fighting for. Why spend your life making someone else's dreams?"

Yes in a way. As others have said in the fairy tale the wolf represents the frightening aspect of the young girls growing sexuality.
That's why red riding hood is told not to walk through the woods by her mother.
Into the woods in a lot of ways is reprising the old meaning of these fairy tales. They are very dark. And btw the songs are full of sexual innuendo- the little girl wants it to happen and doesn't at the same time.
"And he showed me things many beautiful things... And made me feel excited and scared". It's a theme throughout the film!
share"Things I was yet to explore" or some such phrase is the one you're missing there. Definitely some predatory sexual implications throughout the story. There are in the Little Red Riding Hood too, as someone above has already posted.
shareI felt the same way. I had a sick feeling in my stomach during that scene, but it was cool to hear Johnny Depp sing.
shareThis whole scene was creepy and uncomfortable to watch especially because most of us love Johnny Depp.
shareAnother one asking this? Do your basic research and stop overanalyzing what you take for innuendos...it's why they call it acting, sweetheart.
shareWho better than Depp to teach girls to be wary of wolves who seem nice?

I just saw that scene and definitely got a creeper vibe, regardless of the intended impression. I just had to remind myself that wasn't the intent.

I just watched this movie this morning, and I agree. If Johnny had more wolf makeup on his face (i.e., more fur), it wouldn't have seemed so much like a To Catch a Predator moment.
shareActually given the age of Little Red Riding Hood, he would be a hebephile.

The Riding Hood story started out as an allegory of sexual predators.
