Why was this made

Why was this made. In 3 months everyone will forget this existed. So what's the point?

The same is true for this thread.

Exactly!

But to answer Opie's question: The movie was made to make money...duh! I mean: Besson, Costner, McG...what could go wrong?

Every movie can't be Casablanca

I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

reply

Even Casablanca was a fluke. No one expected it to become such a cult classic.

Fighting a religious war is like fighting over whose imaginary friend is better.

reply

Well no fear of that happening here.

That's probably what the studio execs thought too; however, look at its drastic second weekend drop...the movie likely won't even gross its $28m budget (domestically anyway)

Costner doesn't have the drawing power he used to - he's better off in supporting roles now. Though that didn't help the Jack Ryan flick, which tanked in North America too

reply

Is this worst than Non-stop? Because I was amazed at the imdb rating on that, it was a completely forgettable film and I kind of regret not seeing this one instead. Should I give this one a chance or just save my money and rent it eventually?

reply

Go see it! Why not? It was made why every movie is made... To entertain people & lose yourself in something. In fantasy.

reply

I along with most people enjoyed nonstop more but this film is a lot deeper if not as well directed or written. Besson makes arty smarty action films

reply

I could go with you somewhat on the "arty", at least this movie did throw in some interesting quirks, but there was certainly nothing smart about it. If you dig Besson you'd be better off watching his 80s and 90s stuff imo.

or maybe not lol http://www.WorldofBong.com

reply

Meats_Of_Evil...this crap is alot worse than Non-Stop...I would say that Non-Stop is pretty *beep* but this turd cake really takes the price...Besson is the reason and the worthless director McG ofc...Besson cant make good films anymore even if his life depended on it...sure he produced Taken which was an ok action flick but this is just pure garbage, nothing decent or good about this so called movie.

Problem with JR was that they should have either rebooted and used the old stories, or gone NextGen and done the stories with JR Jr.... with Dingo & Clark leading the way.

reply

thoughts from an ugly mind? it's already grossed over its budget; who cares about 'domestically anyway' in a global economy? the money all spends the same.

to the rest, blah blah blah.

reply

You're a couple of months late, Randy...it's already bombed overseas too

Domestic: $30,657,691 84.8%
+ Foreign: $5,500,000 15.2%
= Worldwide: $36,157,691

reply

Are you posting that because you think it's good, or to confirm that it's terrible? Because, as everyone knows, a film's budget doesn't include the marketing and the cost of releasing it in dozens of territories.

It did gross more than its budget. Whether it made a profit or not, how does it feel to be wrong?

Possibly true but don't blame him, he was good in it. I haven't seen the Jack Ryan movie yet but will for Kevin and Keira.

reply

I'm not blaming him -- the public just doesn't care anymore. Draft Day flopped too.

i wanted to give it a chance then I saw directed by McG.Hack.

It will be remember well after your gone though..

It'll take less time for everyone to figure out you are a troll and your posts are worthless.

High Their!

reply

Just to prove how they can still make money even after making such a turd. Public will watch anything, no matter how bad it is.

reply

Well, why not? I didn't expect much, but it was entertaining. What more do you want? The actors were pretty good, and it was kinda well written - but not in a way that attracts a lot of people (neither action, nor drama, nor comedy...).

I think this movies problem was - as so often (Dredd for example) - the really bad marketing. Most people didn't notice it at all, and many did expect something very different.

reply

I expected very little and was shocked; personally think this is the best KC has made in a long time. Enjoyed it 100x more than the new Jack Ryan movie he was also in (albeit small part, but also a spy movie, and no lost dogs LOL).

reply

Why are you concerned? Did you invest millions of your own money into the company that made it?
You didn't like it? (I assume you actually watched it.) Move on and find a film you will enjoy.
They cannot all be winners.

imdb, once for discussing movies, now a facebook substitute. Off topic and all drama.
