One of the best movies of the year

Just got back from seeing it and loved. Throwback to old school crime drama's of the 70's and 80's. Jeff Nichols directed the hell out of it. Great performances, but Hardy was the real star here. It's a shame that both 20th Century and Focus ended up fumbling the release of this and hopefully will get seen once it's on streaming.

I saw a tv ad for it today when watching the football. Looked pretty cool, I'll probably check it out when it's streaming.

I enjoyed, several really good performances especially.

If anyone's interested, I reviewed the movie on my youtube channel. Appreciate any feedback. Trying to improve -https://youtu.be/zjsrvgv_4FI

THIS SHOULD BE IN ALL CAPS!

I saw it today.

It was pretty good. The attention to detail in recreating the time period was very impressive. The cast and performances were also great.

I did, however, think it was a bit slow and, narratively, not always super compelling. It's a film that is more about vibe than plot.

I do appreciate that it was something new and original and not a movie that I feel like I've seen a thousand times before.

My son saw this movie at AMC for 5 bucks a few weeks ago. He said it was a good movie. I look forward to seeing it

reply

Yeah this was pretty good. But I think it's a bit misleading to call it a 'crime drama'. That is not really the focus of the plot. I think people looking for a 'Sons of Anarchy' type of story are going to be very disappointing. It's more like a nostalgia fueled character study.

reply

That is a fair assessment. I was sort of hoping for Sons Of Anarchy 1960’s but I enjoyed the characters and story anyway.
