So many Joel qualities in that movie, voice, temper, looks, behaviour etc etc.

Jackman's character in Prison and Joel had very similar motives like being a father that would do anything to his protect his child even to the point of killing and torturing another human. And plus it would be cool for Jackman to play another major pop-culture character after Wolverine.
shareSadly I thought that too, that as soon as I saw Prisoners that there'd be no doubt that he'd get the role of Joel. Not that I don't like it, but just seems almost too obvious.

I thought of Jackman even without thinking of that movie. At first the only person I could picture was Jeffrey Dean Morgan! But I'd like to see Jackman take on the role. I think he'd do a pretty awesome job. I feel like he won't though which is a shame.

Other possible choices might be Viggo Mortensen, Guy Pearce or Joel Edgerton
I'd rather see Hugh Jackman as David. I reckon he could really pull off that role!!

I thought the same thing, but I kept worrying if I posted something like that that I would get a bunch of hate replies. I am glad it's the other way around. I'd say either Hugh Jackman our Billy Burke would be good is Joel. Someone mentioned Chris hems worth who might be OK but I also think he might be too young since Joel is supposed to be in his 40's at least.
