Some of actors roles are somewhat forced as package deals with other, better movies.

She is getting older, she has to take every role she can get.

reply

Its not just Rogen, Have you seen Adam Sandler Movies? He gets quality actors too

reply

You are not seriously comparing Seth Rogen to Adam Sandler, are you???
Rogen would never take the roles Sandler did. He actually has enough pride to make the best out of his roles. Long Shot proves that and so does Good Boys. Sure he didn't act in that one but it's not the only example of him as a producer and director.
Sandler makes about six to seven movies a year, all of which are horrible and would never sell tickets. Maybe once every three years he actually is a good movie and shows his skill as an actor. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying he can't act, he has proven that he can, but at this point, no one takes him seriously anymore.

I wasn't talking about their acting,I was talking about this thread the op in question said Theron is above this movie, but Sandler himself has got quality actresses. Anyway since you brought it up I don't think that highly of either of them tbh

Why would she above this kind of movie??? It's a very good comedy. I'm glad she is taking roles like this and I don't think Rogen had anything to do with it. She hasn't been in a bad movie for some time now which prooves to me she chooses her roles carefully.

In my honest opinion, Sandler is a far better actor than Rogen, be it comedy or drama. Let's look at a Sandler movie comparable to this - "Just Go With It". Even without adjusting for inflation, it made 215 million on a 48 million dollar budget, and even today, 10 years after the fact, it is currently in the top 10 in the U.S. on Netflix. So, it was a financial success, and it has staying power as people still want to watch it 10 years later.. In contrast, "Long Shot" lost money in its initial run, and I don't expect it to have a renaissance once it goes to streaming as some movies do.

I agree with you that Adam Sandler is an underrated actor. He is very good although his bad movies and performances outshine the few good ones he made.
"Just go with it" is an average comedy with a dumb premise that I watched because of Aniston not because of Sandler. In fact, I am very careful with Adam Sandler movies in general. Most of his movies are a waste of money and time and really not funny. I usually. read up on them beforehand and as talented as he might be, he has too many duds to really be really considered a good actor.
Sandler is a better actor than Rogen, but Rogen's comedies are mostly enjoyable and funny and to watch a regular Adam Sandler comedy I have to get really drunk to enjoy it.
Sandler is way too goofy and way too childish to be taken seriously and whenever I see one of his movies on tv I immediately move on.

Frankly, I think the movie is quite entertaining. Both leads do a solid job and Rogen and Theron have good chemistry. The topic is interesting and it's nice to see Rogen do sth different for a change. This isn't the type goofball, slapstick comedy he usually does, it's a charming story about people and politics that is actually told in a clever and entertaining way.
As for Theron, she has been in high demand for years now and rightfully so. She is a very good actress and I like that she takes on different roles in different genres. Rogen certainly has developed as a filmmaker and while this is a comedy, I have to say he really nailed the serious scenes, too.

reply

Agree 100%. She's way above this film.
