Why is a black kid hanging out with an Asian kid?

Is it explained in the movie?

they live in the same project and it's also mentioned that he's baby sitting.

there are Asians that sound black... Go on youtube... there are several of them. They don't pick up that mannerism from there parents...

And as for real life... GET OUT of your small closed circle of friends.

There are also Asians that are part-black themselves----like the ones in Jamaica who integrated with the black indentured servants there, for example---look their history up.

Just saw the movie---loved it, even though it was really sad in some parts. Anyway, on the DVD commentary, the director,George Tillman, said that there were Asian families living in one of the New York projects he and his crew shot the movie in. So the idea of Pete and his mother living in a housing project isn't so far-fetched to begin with.

Why did tiger woods dad marry his mom?? . People hang out with who ever lives in the area . i havent seen the move but i guess they eith lived in same area or went to school together or even was in same foster care .
btw i was being a smart ass with the tiger wood question (even thought i know he asain and african american)

the mothers were both prostitutes for the same pimp played by anthony mackie... the reason why they hung out together at first he didnt want no part of the asain boy but his mom forced the issue..then after time they were both in the same struggle and bonded...

Really...

Liked that the film showed a good friendship between mister and Pete.

I was also happy to see some bonding between the two boys, with Mister taking on an older brother/best friend role. That became quite obvious when Mister had Pete hide in the closet. I hoped one day they would reunite.

reply

I'm hopeful they will. The three months (?) they spent and bonded together under those extreme conditions is bound to affect the rest of their lives. It would be impossible for them not to reunite at some stage, at least I hope.

Um you must live in "no mans land." I'm black and I have so many Asian friends, as well as half Black & half Asian friends. I never thought of it being odd, welcome to the New World!
