So mister goes back home with his mom and to school and that's that? What about Pete? That kids probably getting his ass kicked on a regular basis. I wish they would've at least shown Pete getting out of the group home and being adopted by mister's mom or at least a loving family.
On the DVD there are Deleted Scenes in the Special Features section at the end. There were 3 major scenes cut that made a big difference in the story! One scene revealed what happened to Alice. As you may have wondered, her boyfriend killed her for not moving in with him after he left his wife and kids for her. They didn't show her death, but they did show Mister tearfully reading the headlines in the newspaper in the library.
The next important scene they cut was one where Mister and his mother are having lunch at a grill, and she tells him she's sorry, and then she tells him that she has a job and an apartment for them.
The most important scene that was deleted was the ending. Gloria and Mister arrive at Riverview to pick up Pete and take him home. Mister gave him a big long hug, and Pete happily went home with Mister and a much improved Gloria.
I do understand why they chose not to show these scenes. People seem to want realistic endings to films that have social themes. Me, I know enough about reality... I want happy endings! Thank heavens for the Special Features. I'm so glad I got the ending that I wanted, and that Alice's disappearance was explained.
Wow, wish I would have seen that.. But, the explanation is enough.. It's too bad about Alice.. And thank God for Pete.. I think the way Mister acting in the end may have shown that Pete was alright..
It's not a Disney movie. We don't know what happens with Pete. I think there's reason to believe that Pete is with them, by the way Mister is so happy and productive. Maybe it is just that his mother is clean and being a good mother.
Maybe him and Pete don't see eachother again. But their tale was one of survival. He also protected Pete and taught him important lessons.
