Lots of people.

Myself included, and it's almost 2015!

I have plenty of VHS recordings, and 2 VCR's. I don't want to go through the time and expense of replacing all my VHS's with DVD copies. I used my old camcorder to make VHS-C tapes as recently as 2009.

I don't anymore, but plenty of people still do.

I seem to recall that the rationale in the movie was that these recordings were intentionally placed on vhs tapes so they would be more difficult to trace back if the authorities ever found them. There wouldn't be any meta data or whatever else investigators use with digital recordings. Thus, they may have oriiginally been on a hard drive or something, but eventually, intentionally, placed on a vhs.

I use VHS daily in 2015. It's much more convenient for me, and most of the movies I watch on VHS are better than this one.

I still do. Part of this is because I still have VHS tapes but also part of it is because there are movies out there that were never transferred to DVD, this is the only way to see them and you can pick them up for next to nothing.

Garage sales are great for this and I'm a bit of a video addict. I've got over 3000 DVDs and maybe 500 VHS movies that still work. Hell, I've got a laserdisc player for some of those really hard to find ones.
