I think most people who didn't like anything in this movie are ...

Men. They can't deal with so many women of all types in a movie. No perfect vapid blondes, just female people. I enjoyed film characters for the first time in a long while. I'm straight but enjoyed that July 4 party. Fun but no tension.

Well you're wrong.

You can click on the rating here on IMDB and check, on average males rated this movie as a 4.6, whereas females rated it an average of 5.5. Both men and women agree that this is a bad movie.

Unfortunately I doubt that facts and figures are going to get in the way of the Op and friends having a rant about how it's always the man's fault.

The Op couldn't even be bothered to rate the film.

reply

What a terrible thing to say. You wont' even consider that they didn't like the movie based on the movie's merits?

The movie failed to make me laugh. That's not a good sign for a comedy. But no i'm sure it's simply because i'm a man and i hate women.

This film is just another example of the "Rot" of Hollywood. A piece of trash designed to cash in on someones popularity, ie. Corky Romano, etc. I am a male and my favorite actress is Faye Dunaway, I liked Thelma & Louise and enjoyed Sarandon in many films, just not this one. One of my top all time films is Girl Interrupted, basically an all female cast. So your theory is off on my account.

You replied to me but surely you're not talking to me.

I'm a man, but that's just coincidence. Vapid blondes bore me just as much (no substance) None of these women were likeable, though; Sarandon came closest due to her free spirit, but I don't find being an old soak or flouting laws funny...

There aren't many movies with a female ensemble. It just so happens that the ones I can think of ("Bridesmaids", "The Sweetest Thing"). relied too much on boorishness to be funny. That isn't my fault. Show me a gang of likeable, intelligent and interesting ladies on screen, and I'm all set... but I'm still waiting, because neither this nor the other ones I mentioned were it.

I agree.

and I really think, she (Melissa), talented as she is, should really embrace some different typecast , as in character. I know she could manage better roles, instead of just playing the familiar field of almost self-loathing (or rather a humor directed upon self image). I only assume she does that to conceal her lack of confidence - 'lemme play the boorish funny type, so people'd laugh at the character, instead of me' - of some sort.
but there is no doubt she is talented and able to adopt better, deeper roles, because a comedian does not have to make a fool of himself to be regarded as comedian.

Yo! CrapSpewingNobgoblin (or whatever "outrageous" name you're going by at the moment). You crack me up. You put a lot of effort and work trying to be controversial here on the IMDB message boards, yet you can't seem to sway anybody to your way of backwater logic and stupid suppositions.

The only thing you've been successful at is convincing a large group of people that you are not too bright (though you believe that are) and probably a little messed up in the head.

By the way, if you really understood the meaning of "liberal", you would realize that (by way of the crap you keep trying to educate everyone with) you are one of the biggest liberals posting on IMDB daily.

Oh, yeah. Your posts keep disappearing. Better kick up the output!

OP is just sad, anybody disagrees with her, she considers them vapid men for not liking 'Tammy'?!

This film is awful in every way, it's an ugly movie. It's heart is ugly, the jokes don't work, it's poorly paced, NO comedy comes from the direction and the tone is pathetic

Also, Toni Collette and Susan Sarandon are attractive, so you're point about people not liking it cause there aren't attractive women in it is BS. Plus, YOU OP are the "fatphobe" because you whine about people not liking films that don't have attractive people in it.... But isn't that saying that MM is ugly? YOU FAT-PHOBE!!!!!!!!!

It's just a terrible film, it's a 2/10, other MALE orientated films I've given a 2/10 or 1/10? God's Not Dead, Ridiculous 6, Cell, Double Down, Joe Dirt 2.

So your logic is entirely false and extremely sexist. YOU are the deplorable one OP, enjoy your hateful world view.

This is Donald Trump, isn't it? Come on, tell the truth! You're trolling the IMDB boards aren't you, Donald? It's obvious, you know. You have the exact same mixture of prejudice, hatred, ignorance, and narcissism. I'm pretty sure you're Trump or his mini-me replica. Which is it?

PS- I like the way you pick and choose what you want to debate/discuss. You have a habit of not responding to or defending the behavior that people have called you out on.
Hey! Just like Trump! So, tell you what...if you apologize to everybody and we'll call it even.

But since you're Trump, I know you will never, never ever apologize.
