Last few minutes...

First of all I really liked the movie. It was sweet and emotional love story with great leads and interesting premise.

What i did not like was last few minutes. I believe it was too dramatic and the drama was created from nothing. Running away from New Mexico, car chase, running away from mental institution. It would make sense if someone was about to kill the woman lead. That would justify the running away to save her. But he could wait for a few days and talk to his parole officer or something to get there.

But as I said it was a good movie inn my opinion.

Thanks a lot for spoiling the movie for those of us who have not seen it. I won't be watching it now.

reply

The post is titled "the last few minutes". What did you expect?

reply

You've got to be kidding. "The last few minutes..." could have been about anything! IMDB has a policy that spoilers are supposed to be marked. If people don't have enough consideration for others to follow it, they usually lose their right to post.

reply

Well, admittedly, I was unaware of the policy. However, I feel it seems like common sense that something referring to the very end of the film could be spoilery. Regardless, your tact wasn't the best way of approaching the situation.

reply

My "tact" was very appropriate considering I was just getting ready to watch the movie an hour ago and the poster totally blew it for me.

reply

Actually...you know what? I was wrong. Considering the technical issues that the film has had, I can understand you thinking this thread was a warning or something similar. Still could have been worded in a more gentler manner, but I do understand.

reply

Why would you go to a message board about a movie you haven't seen yet? You just wanted to see people speculate about the characters and plot before watching it? Typically people come here to discuss a movie after they have seen it. There are millions of posts all over IMDB which do not warn of spoilers. A little common sense is needed. DON'T VISIT FORUMS FOR MOVIES AND TV SHOWS YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED YET. CHANCES ARE PEOPLE WILL BE DISCUSSING SAID MOVIE OR TV SHOW...

Anyways... Back to the topic.

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Read this and perish!!!!!!

It was a bit overly dramatic, but he was on already on the plane before she was coherent enough to explain what happened to her. Us as viewers might understand she's being forcefully committed into a mental hospital, but Dylan didn't know that. For someone unaware of how these things work, like Dylan was, he wasn't sure what happened to her and if she was alive or dead.

And if she did not escape out of that hospital, she was not going to get out. The doctor said 2 months, but hubby seemed to not even be sure of that much time and might have kept her committed longer. She would have to be lucid enough to get a lawyer and try to go to court to fight this. Hubby would have brought in all of her "friends" to testify how crazy she had been lately. She would never have been let out that place.

I do agree this all could have been done sans the car chase. I think he should have just gotten a cab instead of stealing a car. He knew, by that point, that Rebecca was alright and was in no immediate danger. But the rest wasn't too far over the top.

Spot on dude....

I never watch trailers nor read in IMDB about a movie before watching it. However, when I am finished like I was 10 mins ago I come here to rate the movie and look at what people have to say.....

Last few mins... Hmmm yep I know what happened, however, having just typed that, the subject automatically grabs the reader and draw them into this thread... What I was not expecting was a topic turned into a rant....

Like most of us, we have friends all over the world connected via Internet and friends constantly send me and I am sure you, links to uTube and other sites to see just released movie trailers.... I DON'T want to know.... I don't go there...

Its like opening a book and glancing at a couple of chapters or worse like my ex wife reads the ending before reading the book.... Hmmm perhaps that is why we are ex's lol.....

Back to the movie... I had a lady friend whom we are just friends.... over, we had dinner and a catch up chat... Now, what to watch..... She has watch most of the "new" movies with her boyfriend and of course her choice is RomComs.... "In Your Eyes" is one of the movies I have had for 4 months or so and forgot about. Yes, I went to IMDB, only to see what the review had to say, like the first three lines.... To read the following;

"Joss Whedon is the creator of "Firefly" (2002-2003) or "Buffy, The Vampire Slayer" (1997-2003). The first a cult TV show, the second a terrible show that became almost a sci-fi classic piece of work, don't ask me why. All of this before becoming the guiding light of the Marvel films. But even before that, a young Whedon wrote this script right when he moved to L.A."

I knew this had to be a great movie..... back to the "last few minutes", my lady friend said that is it???????? What happens... I replied what ever you sexy mind will make up!!!! YOUR choice!

I was okay with the ending, the fact they were heading out of town..... but totally agree that before that moment, the last few minutes was almost like the director calling time, we need to wrap this up. The car chase and escape from hospital was too much quick action for the pace of the movie... IMHO... I would have like a more real ending as she was higher than a kite on drugs even though she had just missed her last assigned medication. She moved too fast for someone who had been doped up in a fetal position day earlier...

Great movie even though the ending was speed-ed up in unrealistic terms.... Enjoyed the hell out of Jennifer Grey and the movie!!!

Moral of the story, don't come to IMDB before viewing the film - you spoil the director, writers, and actors job..... and then write about it bragging that this movie was ruined cause you have not figured this out that there will be spoilers.....

Peace

You're way too kind. You were not wrong! He/She has no common sense.

Reading a forum an hour before watching a film? that's risky at best, even subjects have had spoilers in in the past, and I just do not believe anyone in their right mind would read a post titled 'last few minutes...' and expect anything other than a spoiler.

reply

Discussions about the movie/show is why I come here - I'm not at all bothered about spoilers. I know the risks and accept them; but if I really wanted to see a film/show unspoilt then I certainly wouldn't come here just before watching it - that's just ridiculous and asking for disappointment.

yep. everybody's young and dumb once. hopefully that person learn and grew as a result =D

reply

Yup; you can only hope - or they might end up like me; old, still dumb, but now loving the spoilers. ;D

Look I don’t go crazy, I am crazy. What I do is go normal at random times.

reply

You had plenty of warning, spoiler tags or not.

The title of this thread is "Last few minutes..." and the spoilers don't begin until the FIFTH sentence. Up until that point it's pretty clear that plot points are going to be discussed.

Don't blame the original poster because you can't stop yourself! ;)

I only logged in to say if you read a post called 'the last few minutes' you deserve to read a spoiler. :/

reply

Welcome to IMDb. I learned many years ago, to NEVER look at the boards until after I have viewed the film. The boards are generally for post-viewing discussions and always have potentially unmarked spoilers. It is convenient that they are located at the bottom, making them fairly easy to avoid.

The best thing to do is to see the overall score average per number of raters, toward the top of the page. Then I may read the summary, and glance over general titles and yellow star ratings in the reviews section. However, I lightly glance at the review content, as they may spoil something - though most are appropriately labelled for spoilers. I'm just trying to get the general consensus as to whether or not a film will interest me and is worth seeing.

I hope that helps. :)

Why are you on IMDb reading possibly in-depth conversations about a movie if you haven't seen it yet and don't want anything spoiled?

reply

You're a *beep* imbecile. What else could a thread titled "Last few minutes..." be about except the last few minutes of the *beep* movie? You're such a moron, you should lose your right to post.

reply

"The last few minutes..." could have been about anything!

Let that sink in for a while.....take your time....

You didn't stop reading after "What i did not like was last few minutes. I believe it was too...."?? And you've never watched a movie or read a book that you've experienced before? You're going to deny yourself the rest of the movie because you have an inkling about the last few minutes? Your loss. Whaa whaaa. And why are you reading message boards to films you haven't yet watched? Here's yer sign.

reply

For people who HAVE watched the movie, the title to this post meant exactly what it stated. The last few minutes of the movie would obviously describe THE LAST FEW MINUTES of the movie. You've got to be retarded to think otherwise. And IMDB rules? Are you friggin kidding me? DO you not go to other forums from movies[you've seen or not seen] and literally READ posts on people telling you about the movie without it being marked? Who goes and reads something like "The Last Few Minutes of the Movie" and think 'Oh, they're not going to say anything about any part of the movie'? DON'T READ REVIEWS AT ALL if you think you can go to ANY FORUM about a movie you've never seen and find that NO ONE will describe certain parts of a movie that they HAVE seen. It is not possible! You're an idiot!

There's always two sides to a story; no one person is innocent

reply

Give it a rest, asphole... the posting is almost a year old now, get a life. What do you do, troll the imdb forums looking for ways to to call people idiots? Jerk.

reply

if you haven't seen the movie, what are you even doing in the discussion board? Ofc there will be spoilers.

reply

I liked the ending...but what happens when the train stops? The police are just going to pick them up. Dan is going to prison, Rebbecca is going back to the hospital.

reply

Anyone on a movie board of a movie they didn't watch yet honestly deserves to have it spoiled lol.

reply

You idiot. Sorry, but there is nothing else left to say. You blithering idiot. Next time you are just about to watch a movie please resist the urge to go on the imdb discussion board to read about it. Watch it first.

If you can't do that then just stop complaining about spoilers. What you did is the same as ignoring a red traffic light, having an accident and then blaming the other driver because he was driving too fast. Pathetic.

reply

Re Your post, and guess what... there might be spoilers!

I agree... what was the big hurry! Why did she have to walk past her husband? ... she did not even look for another option. For seemingly smart people they did a lot of dumb things. It seemed like added unneeded drama...

I did liked the premise but thought they could have easily hidden the "talking to themselves" issue by wearing a bluetooth ear piece... I thought that part of the story was weak, you have to know you are going to look odd walking around talking aloud like that. Again, the dumbness made me give an other wise 7 or 8 movie a 5.

reply

I liked the last few minutes, they made it overly dramatic, yes, but it was a runaway ending and they made it and it is old-fashioned but also sweet and made me smile. Risking it all in a it's now or never kinda vibe - AND letting them get away with it. Cute. For a second I was afraid he was going to get shot or they were a dimension apart or something...^^

Yes, I had thought maybe he was going to break in during the night and 'steal' her, but he was violating his parole big time, he must have used his real passport for the flight and had no money for a cab and wanted to save her - very urgent business...;-)

reply

It seems to me that you come from assumption, that people act rationally :) When in fact, most of them are not rational at all in making decisions.

The main characters are quite impulsive by themselves to start off. Now add the effect of a telepathic bond - suppose you can actually feel the fair and emotional pain of the other person who is thrown in the cell. It adds a lot more urgency to act right now. And on top of that, they are in love...

So no, I don't think it was over the top.

Nice little movie. A little too much music video sequences, but some really clever things. Thought it wouldn't have hurt if they had tied a few things more at the end. Instead it was kinda like; Blah, blah blah, they lived happily ever after.

reply

I'm a firm believer in epilogues if there won't be a sequel.

Totally agree - loved the film and I'm very glad they didn't go down the line that she dreamt Dylan up which could have been the case quite easily knowing her previous mental state (or not so much if you're lead to believe her husband has a habit of mucking her over way back in time).

However, cramming what you've waited for, for most of the film into a space of around five minutes is total discredit to the film as a whole and did seem as though they ran out of budget and thus couldn't produce the extra half hour needed to sum everything up.

He didn't need to break the law and thus her getting out of a mental institution would have been a lot easier with Dylan by her side; instead you're led to believe they either ended up happy or he got arrested and she got taken back.

reply

Dylan was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Either his P.O. or his con buddies were going to do him in very soon. So he really was on borrowed time anyway. Rebecca was trapped. She was controlled either by her husband and nosy friends and when he couldn't keep her under control, he had her committed. You have to keep in mind NO ONE was going to believe either one of them were anything other than crazy if they were open about their telepathy.

They both realized not only had they developed a strong connection and love for each other once they realized what their telepathy was, but they knew the only way they would ever gain their 'sanity' was to find each other.

The ending really ramped up the intensity, but it was still a good film.

reply

I was expecting the love reunion. And I didn't expect it in the last few minutes. The ending dissapointed me because there is no arc. I mean what happen to the rest of the story. Just credits and that's it.

reply

SPOILER***

I was also disappointed by the ending. They kiss and then credits roll. The movie was very sweet otherwise and I've really enjoyed it - but I didn't like the ending. Way too much drama for an otherwise slow-paced movie. It totally ruined it. I would have liked to see them come together and realise why they had that special bond in the first place - that it was meant to be from the start.
