the disgust people feel from this movie

I think it comes from a place of bitterness. We hate watching beautiful people do what beautiful people do.

As someone who was entirely shut out of the whole college debauchery scene, I had to overcome my own feelings of bitterness in order to keep watching. I'm glad I did. This movie was highly rewarding.

Yeah, there's a lot of "old man yells at cloud" going on in the world. Some people just won't be happy until they ruin everybody else's happiness because their best days are behind them.

reply

The film is supposed to make you feel disgusted.

reply

I wasn't really disgusted but this movie made me feel weird after. Like disturbed :|

reply

Uh you actually think that people disliked this movie because they wish they could've lived this life. That is ridiculous. That's like saying people hated the exorcist because they wish they could be possessed. There was nothing about this movie that was appealing. You are as delusional as the main characters were.

reply

I don't know, no responsibilities, no work, being young and beautiful, hooking up with people who are young and beautiful, drinking, partying, and smoking without worrying about the consequences. Sure beats working 50 hours a week, coming home to the same wife, and worrying about bills and a mortgage.

reply

No responsibilities? Have you been to college? Some of those classes can be tough. Studying takes up a lot of time.

reply

Not for an average female. You think the main characters were studying electrical engineering? Lol.

reply

Where does all of this happen exactly? I experience all of this and more and let me tell you there are plenty of consequences. Most of the people who worked 50 hours plus, lived that life in college, hence the reason they are working 50 hours a week at a dead-end job. And that's if they are lucky. Most of my friends are 27,28 years old now selling insurance, working at car rental places, or are real estate agents in order to pay for 4 years of partying and making c's and d's in college. None of my friends, myself included, did well in school because we partied are arses off instead. I actually had to go back to college at 24 to get a real degree to change.

All of that aside, no one disliked this movie because of that. A lot of people actually lived that life if not worse. What people disliked is the complete delusional aspect of the film.

I love !

That's basically my life minus the partying. Wasted four years living in a dorm while majoring in econ because I fell for the "college is a sexfest" myth. In the end, I didn't get any sex at all, except from the odd hooker. >:(

It pains me to see all these blue collar "screwups" from my high school already buying houses. **** you, college.

People probably hate the film for the raunchyness it wasn't afriad to do.

I would kill for there life.
Hell that's basically one of the films messages. People will do whatever it takes to be happy even if that means hurting someone else.

You have to be really blinded or just to stuck up to try and look at the suptext in this movie.

Nothing appealing in this movie.
This has everything the youth of my generation love and do.
Gang violence (all time high)
Guns/Robbery (all time high)
Pot/Weed (all time high)
Drug usage (all time high)
Partying, swearing, sex, etc.

Yeah there's nothing appealing or even remotely interesting in this film. Surely teens and adults wont understand were the.idea for this film came from.

reply

call me crazy but i think people hate this film because it wasn't good. going out on a limb here though folks.

reply

LOL!! I'm with you.

Well, I think the Selena Gomez character saw pretty clearly what the real consequences for these girls would be if they continued to hang around with this Alien piece of sh it. They would be drugged, raped, abused, sold to ghetto trash for money or more drugs, and eventually killed and/or dumped along the side of the road like garbage. They would then crawl back home and cry to mom and dad about how they did nothing wrong but try to have a good time in Florida on spring break.

The world may seem like a nice place when you grow up in the suburbs protected by mommy and daddy, but when you get out into the jungle like these girls did, it is a very cruel and heartless place full of agony and suffering. Just ask any of the thousands of runaways who wind up living on the streets of L.A., Miami and Las Vegas every year.

reply

I was disgusted but not because I'm jealous. The whole thing looked horrendous. There is no point to these people's lives; no meaning. What's the point of even existing if that's all there is?

reply

I agree with you.

reply

I think you missed the point.

The main characters thought the life they were living was the ideal, but it was ultimately meaningless and didn't get them anywhere substantial. On a broader scale, a lot of today's youth is like that.. I certainly was (thank god I grew out of it at around age 20ish, a lot of people don't - hence, James Franco's character).

You weren't supposed to feel bitter or jealous, you were supposed to pity the main characters because they were so delusional.

reply

Well, I certainly wouldn't turn down hot sex with any of the four bikini girls in this (and I wouldn't necessarily mind sharing a prison cell with pretty-boy James Franco either), but I was hardly jealous of these characters because they're all vapid idiots.

This movie isn't "Girls Gone Wild" or "MTV Spring Break" or "Jersey Shore" (which does kind of bring up that kind of disgust for me--even as I weep for humanity). It's more satiric and ironic. It's not great, but I think there is a little more to it than people give it credit for. . .

reply

i doubt people are bitter about a bunch of whiny girls going on a killing spree to have fun because they were "pretty" more like their idiotic excuse to do a bunch of violent amoral stupid sh*t to have, and get away with killing a bunch of innocent people..

i think if their characters would have been deeper, it would have at least meant something

reply

Not excusing those characters, obviously they were amoral and brutal, but they didn't kill a bunch of innocent people, unless you mean the gangsters in the end?

reply

TIL killing is just what beautiful people do.

"Just because you understand the mechanics of how something works doesn't make it any less of a miracle"

reply

Uhhhh no. Actually I watched the movie because I find James Franco soooo handsome and Selena Gomez and Ashley Benson totally beautiful. I was disappointed by this movie and bitter because there was no plot and the characters had no real personality/motivations. This is not what I was expecting.
