Okay, I wanted to add one thing: one thing that bugged me slightly in the movie was the relationship with the wife. Now when you suddenly lose somebody it's quite understandable to focus on what had worked in the relationship, and what had been good, but as it was written the father's memories of his wife build a somewhat too perfect picture. The dead mother seemed to have been absolutely perfect, and their relationship one of a fairy tale True Love. It didn't bug me much, but it was bit of a cliche.
The story worked, but it might have worked even better if his memories of the mother had showed something less perfect. Or, perhaps, even bad. A crumbling marriage, on the verge of a divorce, or no real relationship at all. Maybe a woman who had tricked the man to become a father against his will, and a man who would have had every excuse to abandon the baby, but ended up staying anyway. Maybe a man who starts reminiscing angry at her for having put him in that situation, but perhaps mellows at least some during the movie as he starts to bond with the baby. Now his staying seemed inevitable, the main conflict was just his struggle to keep the baby alive.
Also, this works better as a drama than as a thriller, so I suppose whether you like it or not has a lot to do with your expectations.
