I just watched it. All in all, pretty entertaining and about what you would expect from Black Mirror. I just didn't really get into the choose your own adventure aspect. I felt like I got taken out of the story when I had to choose a path.
I thought it was really cool, i liked the part where you had the option to kick his dad in the balls or karate chop him, there was some really funny options near the end of it.
Really hope they do more stuff like this in the future.
Very true. I did wonder the point of that (I went back and chose the other options when it let me, to see the other forks in the story). Is it trying to say that our fate is already set, and free will is really an illusion? Kind of depressing, the exact kind of message the show would go for now that I think about it.
No its more like true fork branching would grow the story outcomes exponentially and a production can't afford to do all that so the story branch points must merge just like video game RPG stories must find a way to merge the storylines to keep costs from growing exponentially. The sroy does have 5 actual distinct endings which is still responable compared to 16, 32 or 64 endings which could never be filmed on a reasonable budget.
Yeah as a movie the story is a little jumbled and messy due to the options and constantly going back and redoing things, but i don't think its meant to be enjoyed as an enthralling movie, i think its just meant to be fun and innovative.
True, and it was kind of fun as a one time thing (I will say I loved how they worked it into the story). I just keep hearing about NetFlix wanting to do more choose your own adventures in the future and don't see me very much getting into the trend. Others may have lots of fun with it though which is cool I guess.
