Hated In The Nation
I thought was a pretty strong episode but haven't noticed much mention of it. What are peoples thoughts on it?

shareIt was one of my favourite episodes. I like ones where society seems realistic. This one and Nosedive both reminded me a lot of the way people act online today. I have a particular distaste for what I call The Facebook mob. Someone posts a video or a story of a perceived wrongdoing and everyone loses their minds. I could actually imagine specific people that would be voted to die. Martin Schkreli, Brock Turner, that dentist that killed the lion, Justin Beiber.
Sometimes the hate is warranted, sometimes it's not. Happened at my work actually. A video was posted of a couple
guys "throwing freight". The mob went
nuts and 3 people were wrongfully
terminated because businesses hate bad publicity. It was hard reading comments
about what worthless people they were,
fire them, lazy bums, etc. All over a 60 sec
clip that they had no background knowledge of, couldn't see half the space, or even hear any voices . You'd think they tortured a box of kittens by the way some people went off about it. They all rightfully won their grievances and were reinstated at least.
Hated in the Nation was my absolute favorite episode of the new season. Automatically, I was drawn towards the two lead actresses since I have originally seen one of them from Train Spotters and the other from Game of Thrones. Their acting was superb, very subtle and clean. The storyline reminded me a lot of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, but mixed well with today's modern progression of technology.
What struck me the most is how accurate it portrays today's society. I too can get caught up with social media and am outraged by some of things that high profile people are capable of--a person that comes to mind is the Stanford rapist--however I try to abstain from posting any comments that I would never want directed towards me. The problem with social media is that people hide behind their phones and computer screens whilst cyberbullying without any consequences. The scary thing is that you kind of understand the antagonist's motive. Although you understand his motive, it's completely sickening knowing that he was able to get away with the death of 387,000 people. They may not have been saints and were only sheep followers of a herd, but that's no indication in a million years for their lives to be taken away.
My other favorite episodes were the Entire History of You, Be Right Back, and White Christmas. But I must say that Hated in the Nation takes the cake since this showed how even the most innocent technology can produce mass destruction and the loss of thousands of lives.

I didnt liked the ending, was too american to give us the sensation she was after him.
i was expecting that the blonde girl helped the guy with the whole thing. that would make me like this episode more.
Well acted, unnervingly plausible. Loved the showing of the bond developing between the two women, and the regrettably realistic and predictable mistakes made by all in dealing with the problem. Nicely sinister that the ultimate goal was to eradicate the hashtag players, in a pretty parallel to "Nosedive." Very good.
"Here, with a special report, is a midget in a bikini."
Completely freaked out by 'Hated in the Nation'..loved it.
Have a question and sorry if it has already been answered on another thread but i couldn't find it.
The song at the end when all hell broke loose..
Anyone know what it is?
Very haunting and beautiful, i thought.
It's not going to stop
