Why is San Junipero so great?
I'm one of the many people who fell in love with San Junipero and I wonder why. Is it the fear of death, the fear of getting old, the hope that there's a life after death, the nostalgia?

Yes, I think it's a combination of all those things you mentioned. After I saw the episode, it skyrocketed to the top of my list of favorite Black Mirror episodes.
shareI didn't like it that much. It was ok. The first half was so boring, but I binge watched the entire series, so that probably made me less patient for such a slow burn episode.
The premise was great, I just didn't care for the way it was presented. However, the ethical questions it raises are great. I wondered if I would want my consciousness to live on as data on a server, and I don't think I would.
It was my least favourite episode. And it had the most happiest ending of all of them. It was a nice story but that's all.
shareIt has a bittersweet ending. Everyone dies, but their consciousness/memories/personalities [see also: soul] are transferred digitally on a server to live on forever.
I just wonder what would happen when the server room loses electricity... or a power surge happens... Ya know? How's it been kept running this entire time. Hopefully they have multitudes of backups stored elsewhere. Just the sort of thing I think about.

I *beep* loved it. So nostalgic and emotional but seriously... not the best in terms of writing. It was soooooo predictable. You knew exactly what was going on after 15 minutes or less.
For example, "Men against fire" had the best twists of this season IMHO and it's SO OVERRATED! Such a pity!
Really? For me it was the opposite. I figured out the twist to "Men Against Fire" pretty quickly. Totally didn't see the "surprise" in San Junipero coming....

because the 80s are to quote 'so hot right now'
I think it was my favourite episode of this run, I kind of like episode 5 but twigged to that pretty quick once the chaps HUD started fritzzing out, as it was very similar to Haze, a video game shooter that I suspect only me, Charlie and about 4 other people ever played
I liked it but it's still my least favourite of the season
shareI think it stands out because it is the only episode of Black Mirror so far to have a happy or optimistic ending.
