Anyone seen it?

I know it had a huge opening in Japan.
So does it live upto manga fanboys wet dreams?
And can they finish the story with just 2 films?

Japanese have low standards with their live action manga movies and the CGI looked pretty lame but i just want to hear things from the audience.

i just watched it (it's online with Hardcoded English subs) and i thought it was pretty good! it's strictly just a monster/creature feature flick with no deep or character rich elements but that's ok with me. the Titans are incredibly creepy/disturbing and are actually kind of scary. the movie has some pretty good gore as well! i'm definitely looking forward to the 2nd part to be released!

Download it here, it has English subtitles.

It kinda sucks though, so much left out.

I just watched it.

It is truly terrible.

No character development. A huge mess all round. One titan roar sample. Not much makes sense. No logic in over half of the characters' decisions.

It's really,, really bad.

Another brilliant post Steinberg...

As a fan of the anime, loved it. The Titans were creepy, scary and the horror and gore were convincing. And the "baby", holy batman!

- IMHO...Movies last 10 years keep getting blander, TV Shows keep getting better.

If you were planning to see "Attack on Titan" (進撃の巨人) in live movie adaptation soon, well.... don't spend your money and waste your time there. Instead watch "Battle Royale" or even the American rip-off "Hunger Games", they're way better.

Sub-par acting, nazified army, cheesy dialogs, non-plausible technology. The Titans are better actors than the main characters and the movie deserves a lame award for depicting the female characters as extremely stupid and helpless.

If this is what post-apocalyptic mankind looks like, then they totally deserved it.

2 thumbs down.

reply

The females weren't depicted as helpless. One was actually an assassin who killed a lot of the titans.

Hunger Games would be a better fit to compare to DR2K or RB but you can hardly say that BR or AOT are "games". The comparison was for recently made movies (blockbusters or not) that are playing on the same kind of premises.

Fricken geeks appreciate a good argument but where was your comment relevant to the review of AOT which is the main topic here?
