Anyone seen it?

I know it had a huge opening in Japan.
So does it live upto manga fanboys wet dreams?
And can they finish the story with just 2 films?

Japanese have low standards with their live action manga movies and the CGI looked pretty lame but i just want to hear things from the audience.

I haven't seen it yet. I read the manga, and have seen the anime, and from everything I've seen/read so far about this adaptation, I can say right away that this movie is crap, and definitely won't

live upto manga fanboys wet dreams?

This movie is so loosely based on the original story - not to mention how they crapped over some really important aspects and details, and stuff they that they excluded/changed just 'cause - that it shouldn't even be allowed to have that title.

Whoever says that they liked this movie for "what it is", clearly isn't a fan of the real Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan.

I will see the movie as soon as it drops, even though I know it will be nothing but a pile of poop, sadly.

Fine, fine, I'll leave! But first I'm going to bother these peanuts! Hmm? Yes? Hmm? HMM?

I've read a couple reviews and they were pretty negative.

Watched it today in Japan. My Japanese is average so I didn't understand all of it but I have seen the anime. As is typical with most live action movies in Japan the acting is terrible and the dialogue mostly cheese. At 1 hour 30mins it was very rushed and they messed around with some of the characters which didn't work as well for me. The CG on the fighting was a bit crappy looking but the kyojin looked terrifying. It was rated PG12 here and the two kids next to my wife and I were clearly younger than that. They ran out after the first 20 minutes when the kyojin start tearing people in two and blood comes gushing out. It was very very graphic and should be rated 18! God knows what you need to do to get an 18 certificate in Japan...perhaps show a penis...?

What is your function?

So you write:

My Japanese is average so I didn't understand all of it

but then claim:

As is typical with most live action movies in Japan the acting is terrible and the dialogue mostly cheese

So how could you know if the dialog is cheesy when you already established that you couldn't understand all of it?

It is available for download if you know where to look for.

I dunno, am I supposed to sign here or what?

I read the manga (not an avid fan though), so I have an idea on what the movie is about before watching it.

As expected with every live action movie adaptation, they changed the story. Don't really know why they did it for this movie though.

CGI-wise, still a lot of room for improvement, though for me, CGI level used is sufficient. Compared to the latest FF4 movie which had better access to CGI, I'd rather watch this movie again than that. That movie's director should be jailed.

I watched the movie to entertain myself for an hour, and I was entertained until it suddenly ended when it was starting to get fun. That's what pissed me off.

Saw it, stopped about 45 minutes in. It's not well made and the quality is similar to straight-to-video movies.

It wasn't great. It wasn't awful either. It definitely takes liberties with the original story almost to the point of being more of an, "inspired by", thing than a direct adaptation and some fans might flip their *beep* about that.

The direction and editing is a bit off sometimes. The pacing isn't great; it drags a good bit in the middle yet somehow the whole thing still feels rushed. The effects are overall pretty bad, but I'm sure they were working on a shoestring budget so, whatever. The costume design was actually pretty good though.

The characters and acting were a mixed bag. I did like some, but to be honest I didn't even know who many of them were and then when some die I just didn't care because.... who was that again? There's no time for any real character development and so no attachment to anyone.

Overall it did feel like a kind of cheap straight to video movie, but not all bad. I was still sort of entertained here and there.

This movie is almost unwatchable.

The acting is terrible and the effects are subpar. In other words, it's a typical live action anime adaptation.
