*beep* acting, horrible story adaptation, no character development, mediocre effects and last of all filled to the brink with minor retardations..
Like so this guy can throw a titan? These guy train to kill titans by hitting their neck.. so this dude has an axe and no gear to get around. Then this girl has a bow? A BOW? what?
I could go on and on and on..
Please stop making more of these and get on with season 2 of the anime!
Actually, the anime is popular among non-anime fans. The story is better than your typical anime calibre.
What exactly didn't you like about the anime? Anyone can pretend that they watched it and say something predictable like "Only reason AOT anime was a success bcs it was watched by typical anime fans."
Come on man, don't be so hard on your keyboard. I am anime fan myself and i can say that AOT is not better than some typical mainstream anime that i've seen. The first 5 or 6 episodes of the show were watchable but after that the show went downhill, like when the lead character try to lift that heavy rock, it took 4 episodes to show that. And the story wasn't that great either. it was similar to some shonen anime. And Funimation dub sux. Recently i watched an anime called fate stay night and fate stay Zero and i found it better than this.(SOORY IF MY ENGLISH IS NOT GOOD)

Sorry for may late response. Yeah, AOT is not better than typical mainstream anime i've seen. Just because this show doesn't provide any fanservice and girls with big boobs won't make this any better than them. similarities from other shonen anime-
1. lead character has a bad past ( naruto). 2. Lead character can change himself into a monster ( again naruto, bleach). 3. Either protogonist is dumb or he has a dumb friend. 4. boring filler episodes (7-14). 5. emotional manipulation at its best. I don't know why people cried at the first episode, it's no way comparable to elfen lied, gunslinger girl, grave of the fireflies etc.
6. Protagonist is either invincible or he is lucky and when he joins the battle, suddenly losing side becomes the winning side and he never dies.
7. Last but not least a "teenager saves the whole world" concept.
I know the movie isn't great and i wasn't defending it either. But this anime is nothing like other anime legends like yu yu hakusho, gintama, mushishi, fullmetal alchemist brotherhood etc. I don't know why it is so much popular. It is like a Micheal bay movie. A lot of noise, bombardings and everything but nothing actually happens. animation is crappy, if we compare it to other anime like akame ga kill, kill la kill, etc. The storyline is predictable and from the story line i mean the actual story like fight between different races, revenge plot etc. fight sequences are good but due to bad animation and character movements, it is ruined. This anime is totally cliched and it is the most overrated anime ever.

Hence why the anime is gaining in popularity and this movie is not.
The only way you can sell the movie is to damn the anime series --- damned if you do, damned if you don't!
I see the rating for this movie has slipped even further ...
Nah I can't stand anime, most of it has too many goofy moments or overly cute type of character. The only ones I have been able to stand are the gory dark ones like Claymore, AoT, and Knights of Sedonia.
Wasn't that one of THE most ridiculous things you have ever seen in a movie? First, that character was made up for the movie and has ZERO to do with the actual story of "Shingeki no kyojin" as told in the manga/anime.
This movies is a terrible adaptation and people who watch it before or instead of the anime are missing out. Big time.
For someone who has never watched the anime (and have no interest in doing so since I'm not an anime fan), I thought it was pretty entertaining and enjoyed the horror elements. I don't give a crap about the sfx being low-budget or whatever, I thought it still worked pretty well. The story and character development could be a lot better though. I didn't enjoy Part 2 on the other hand, since there were no horror elements whatsoever and showed very little of the titans, which were the best part of Part 1.
